The College Football Semifinal gets kicked off in south Florida on New Year’s Eve, with the high-scoring Oklahoma Sooners doing battle with the as-yet-flawless Clemson Tigers. It will be a clash of explosive offenses, as the Tigers and the Sooners ruled their respective conferences (ACC and Big 12, respectively) with consecutive boatloads of touchdowns.

While Clemson is unbeaten, Oklahoma is a Red River Shootout-upset away from being in the same situation. There should be plenty of fireworks in South Beach for the Orange Bowl, a match to determine who will play in the FBS Championship.
Clemson
The Tigers’ Dabo Swinney, questioned even in good times, could use this Orange Bowl win to validate everything he stands for. His efforts in guiding an unbeaten Clemson squad in 2015 haven’t gone overlooked, as he took home AP’s college football coach of the year award. But the work isn’t done.

Similar to their opponent on New Year’s Eve, the Tigers have been effective in every facet of the game this year.
They rank in the Top 25 nationally in all of passing yards (288.5 per game), rushing yards (222 per), points for (38.5 per) and points against (18th at just over 20 per).
These multiple years of recruiting successes in the Tidewater region and Florida are paying dividends for the adherents of Howard’s Rock.
QB Deshaun Watson and RB Wayne Gallman will do the bulk of the heavy lifting for Clemson’s offense, while the program in general relies on impressive team speed to create match-up problems for opponents. This should be less pronounced against OU, as opposed to a relatively inferior Atlantic Coast foe.
Oklahoma
Thanks to QB Baker Mayfield and RB Samaje Perine, the Sooners can destroy opponents through the air or on the ground.
They have a balanced attack that makes them highly difficult to scheme against. Clemson defensive co-ordinator Brent Venables – who previously held that title for Oklahoma – will have his hands full.

Mayfield and Clemson’s Watson both had Heisman Trophy-caliber seasons, which is obviously a benchmark for success for a collegiate football program. Both pivots can make their wideouts better, though it doesn’t hurt that Mayfield has Sterling Shepard (79 receptions, 1,201 yards, 11 TDs) and Dede Westbrook (42, 674, four) to sling the ball to.
When handing the ball off, Oklahoma has an effective duo of Perine (211 carries, 1,291 yards, 15 TDs) and big freshman Joe Mixon (110 totes, 749 yards and seven majors).
All this production leads to the third-highest scoring offense in the nation at almost 46 points per game, along with a passing and rushing attack that both rank in the Top 25 nationally.
Amidst all of these impressive statistics, OU also brings an aggressive, effective defense to the table. The Sooners rank 21st in the country in points against this season (20.8 per) in the video game-esque Big 12, filled with high-scoring outfits like Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State.
Combine this with Oklahoma’s 8-1 conference record and 11-1 overall mark, and it looks like maybe the Sooners ought to be ranked even higher than fourth in the AP poll.

Free Orange Bowl NCAA Football Over Under Prediction
We should have a game that features plenty of scoring, which is as much as you can ask for in a relatively new collegiate football system that adds a healthy dose of drama and justice to the postseason equation.
4* Free NCAA Over Under Betting Pick: Over
Clemson has put together a fantastic campaign and Watson has carried the team a long way. Coach Swinney’s optimism and focused recruiting has finally come home to roost.
Yet, Oklahoma has just looked far too potent this year, with the only slip-up being against a highly motivated Longhorns team in Dallas in October. Look for the Sooners’ superior offense and defense to carry them to the title game against either Alabama or Michigan State.
