The BC Eagles and VT Hokies are both 3 – 1 in ACC play, and each are still in the hunt to win their respective division titles.
If you picked the Boston College Eagles to be a surprise team in 2018, than you must be wicked smart. Head Coach Steve Addazio has finished with a 7 – 6 record in four of his five season’s with the Eagles. With 6 wins under his belt through 8 games, a bowl appearance has already been set in stone, but a small miracle could see the Eagles chase down Clemson for the division crown.
BC and Clemson will showdown next weekend, with the result undoubtedly deciding who will go on to the ACC Championship game from the Atlantic Division. The Eagles must not look far ahead, because a loss to Virginia Tech will likely be devastating to their chances completely.

The Hokies have alternated wins and losses over the last 6 games, and must find at least 2 wins over the last four games to become bowl eligible. Since taking over for the injured Josh Jackson, Kansas transfer Ryan Willis has secured the starters role for the Hokies.
He’ll need to have a strong finish to his junior season if the Hokies plan on extending their run of 25 straight bowl appearances.
Boston College Eagles
The Eagles may be sitting at 6 – 2 and be bowl eligible, but let’s not get to far ahead of ourselves. (I hope they aren’t doing that either) There is also a chance that Boston College goes 0 – 4 to finish out the 2018 campaign, and that is not just a sly comment.
Boston College is favored at -2 at Lane Stadium, which not exactly an easy place to go win a football game. The Eagles will have Clemson, Florida State and Syracuse left to play when they leave Blacksburg, so a loss here could tumble the momentum.

The Eagles are now ranked 22nd in the nation, and are following up an impressive win over the Miami Hurricanes last weekend. Sophomore RB AJ Dillon had missed the last two games to an injury, but the Eagles welcomed his return the lineup, and relished in it as well. Dillon ran the ball 32 times, gobbled up 149 yards and found the end zone in the 27 – 14 win.
Sophomore QB Anthony Brown didn’t exactly have his best outing of the season last weekend, going 15 for 28 with only 152 passing yards in the win.
He did, however, have his best outputs of the season with his legs, picking up a season-high 41 yards while finding the end zone on the ground as well.
Virginia Tech Hokies
The last time the Eagles visited Lane Stadium, they were handed a 49 – 0 shellacking two seasons ago. The Hokies have taken the last three meetings between the Eagles, all being wins in the double-digits.
Speaking of a beat down, the Hokies got taken to the woodshed last weekend against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Virginia Tech were -3 point favorites, and lost 49 – 28 while not having one pass completed against them.
The Jackets triple-option attack ran the ball 78 times and picked up 465 yards while picking up 35 first downs in the game.
Junior QB Ryan Willis did all he could to keep the Hokies in the game, scoring once with his legs, and tossing for two more TD’s in the loss. He was efficient enough, completing 15 of 22 attempts, but the ground game was simply ineffective last weekend.

Willis has already passed his former season high total of 9 TD passes as a freshmen at Kansas, with 10 TD passes this season in only 6 games. Willis has also added three scores on the ground, totaling 13 TDs overall this year.
More often than not, a Bud Carson led defense can be found near the top of the defensive rankings. This season has been trying in Blacksburg, as the defensive numbers are not usually where they are expected to be in 2018.
The Hokies rank 93rd in the nation in total yards allowed (425.3), and 96th against the pass (253.4).
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 10 NCAA Football Pick
The Over looks like a reasonable play here, as 57 might be a bit too low for two teams playing for something. The Hokies know they need to basically win out to keep their bowl string alive, and the Eagles want to prove they are not simply over-achieving at 6 – 2.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Boston College is favored at -2, with a 57 showing on the total. Free ATS or O/U final score pick provided below!
Jump in to the Over 57, and expect a tight one to take place at Lane Stadium on Saturday afternoon. I expect a final score in the range of 31 – 28, which is a tight window to cash our tickets.
