The end of November brings another one of the famed Iron Bowl rivalry match-ups between SEC heavies Alabama and Auburn. The marquee football game in Dixieland has featured a college football juggernaut in recent years, thanks to Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide teams in Tuscaloosa.
The Tide will travel to Jordan-Hare this Saturday to dance with their bitter rival.
Auburn will hope to hang on and pull an upset in front of its home fans, but with Alabama’s usual cast of soon-to-be NFLers, it will be a tall order in 2015.
In ’Bama’s camp, the Tide will hope to close out their season with a lone blemish, which should vault them into the FBS Playoff. Alabama currently sits at #2 in the nation, according to the Associated Press poll.

Alabama really showed its mettle recently with convincing wins over LSU and Mississippi State, certainly not pushovers in the SEC West division.
Auburn is capable of playing snapshots of competent football and the Tigers have improved greatly since their miserable start to the campaign, but they aren’t in the same league, talent-wise, as the Crimson Tide.
Alabama
The Tide has enough offense, thanks to dominant RB Derrick Henry. The hulking junior and Florida native has 1,526 yards and 21 TDs on the season, and he’s carried the attack when QB Jake Coker has struggled.
The receiving game also no longer has a threat like last year’s stud WR Amari Cooper, who is a Rookie of the Year candidate now in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders. Henry and an offensive line that feeds opponents its lunch are pivotal to Alabama’s success on the scoreboard.
The defense, which is a crack unit led by co-ordinator Kirby Smart – who likely has an inside track on an appealing head coaching vacancy at USC or maybe LSU – is a hallmark of this Alabama team.
The unit is led by LB Reggie Ragland and features elite talent and NFL prospects on the line, in the second level and in the secondary. The special teams prowess of KR Cyrus Jones doesn’t hurt, either.
Clearly, Alabama is one of the best teams in the country this year. They simply keeping doing it perennially under Saban.

Auburn
The home side has a monumental challenge ahead of it, but Auburn will certainly be jacked up for the event.
The Tigers have a lousy 2-5 conference record, thanks to a brutal start that saw Auburn at 4-4 with losses to LSU, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Ole Miss. Auburn sits at the bottom of a balanced SEC West, but an upset this weekend would count for bragging rights and confidence, if not in the polls.
Like its in-state counterpart, Auburn has a strong running game, led by sophomore RB Peyton Barber.
He’s toted the rock 228 times for 947 rush yards and 13 TDs. Barber should crack the 1,000-yard plateau this week at home.
Lousy quarterbacking has been Auburn’s undoing this year, as the Tigers will probably start ineffective freshman Sean White. Incumbent junior Jeremy Johnson hasn’t been much better, and consequently lost his starting spot early in the season.
The defense must bring its A-game for Gus Malzahn if it is to have any hope of slowing down an Alabama attack that, while not the most balanced in the world, is capable of putting up big numbers in a hurry. That will be crucial to Auburn’s compete level this week.

Free Week 13 NCAA Football Prediction
Alabama’s capabilities in the ball control department will be too much for the home side to handle, no matter how enthused they are for this Iron Bowl contest.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Alabama
Coker can get the ball vertical if the Tigers are cheating against the run, but Henry has proven too much to handle versus superior defenses. Expect more of the same in Auburn on the Saturday afternoon where the entire state ceases to function.
I think ’Bama will win but I also think it’ll be closer than the oddsmakers project. Do not expect Alabama to cover the spread.
