Having dominated in conference the true measure of this program is how they do outside the AAC…at the beginning and end of the season.
2019 UCF Knights Predictions: Team Strengths
Offense Clicking: In Heupel’s first season the Knights were able to pick up exactly where they left of with Scott Frost.
McKenzie Milton went down late in the year but the offense was humming all season long and they have a ton of speed and skill at running back and wide receiver.
Things look so good that Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush has jumped on board, looking to get back on the field. He will compete with Darriel Mack Jr. Whoever wins will have a chance to affect games with both his arms and legs.

Speaking of legs Adrian Killins is still the most versatile weapon in the AAC. He is one of the fastest players in the country and this is his last year. He could be a better receiving Bryce Love.
Holding Up at the Backend: UCF has one of the best secondaries in the nation. Three players earned all AAC honours last year and they all return.
Junior safety Richir Grant had six interceptions last season, that was tied for second in the nation. He also led the team with 108 tackles.
Brandon Moore took his lone interception all the way to the house – 93 yards. The Knights play an aggressive defense that is looking to make big plays.
2019 UCF Knights Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Rebuilding the Front 7?: This is the area of potential weakness for the Knights. Graduations and early entrees have opened up some opportunities.
Brendon Hayes was second team all conference but he is going to have to step up to cover for the loss of Titus Davis who led the team in sacks and tackles for a loss.
Linebacker Pat Jasinsji has graduated has had four productive years at UCF. Nate Evans might have passed him in terms of pure production a year ago but now they need him to take over the leadership of the defense too.

I am not sure many people realized just how good Milton has been for the last couple of seasons, or how bad his injury was.
There is lot of skill talent to work with but it is no sure thing that it all comes together for Wimbush or Mack. They need to show more than they have to day for this team to be elite.
They can probably just be average and still win the AAC but if they want to win the big games they need more.
UCF Knights Prediction: 9-3
The Knights have won 25 games over the last couple of seasons but there last game was a loss. They might not have another one until the bowls…or playoffs.
The nonconference is challenging. They have trips to FAU and Pitt (who they clobbered last season). Stanford comes to town in what is the most important game of the year. They can beat the Cardinal but it won’t be easy.
In the AAC only a trip to Cincinnati looks like a possible stumble. They have Houston and USF, two other contenders at home.

I think this team can beat the Cardinal and run the table again. There is a lot to like including a culture of not collapsing under the pressure. They were undefeated two years ago and came back in the AAC title game last year with no Milton. Don’t count them out.
