2019 Football Preview – SEC Conference – Arkansas Razorbacks
Looking for 2019 Arkansas Razorbacks predictions? Last season was a trial by fire for Arkansas football. Not only did the Razorbacks claim just two wins, Arkansas was the only SEC program to lose all eight conference games. Further, head coach Chad Morris, who begins year two in Fayetteville, must find new ways to spark a group which fell on both sides of the ball last season.

The 2018 Razorbacks recorded an SEC-worst 260 points for and a next-to-last 417 points against. Only Ole Miss (1-7 SEC) allowed more scoring drives.
While not expected to noticeably improve this fall, Arkansas can make subtle steps toward rebuilding its broken program.
Those steps begin and end with cultivating an incoming freshman class ranked 23rd nationally and boasting eleven four-star signees.
Another new face may expedite the process. With last season’s main play callers Ty Storey and Cole Kelley opting for other schools this summer, the Hogs welcome SMU transfer QB Ben Hicks into their fold. Hicks, a senior who spent his freshman and sophomore seasons under Chad Morris, threw 71 TD’s as a Mustang.
Though, Hicks will soon learn the cutthroat SEC West is a different universe from the American conference, where he threw 34 interceptions.
Nevertheless, it remains a positive that Hicks and Morris are re-united: the duo spearheaded a rare SMU bowl appearance after winning seven games in 2017.
In 2019, Hicks will have leading receiver C.J. O’ Grady and true freshman Terry Knox as prime targets. Perhaps, in addition, the veteran QB can help properly introduce the Hogs’ quartet of matriculating four-star wideouts to the bright SEC lights.
2019 Arkansas Razorbacks Predictions: Team Strengths
Rakeem Boyd: If one strength exists among Arkansas’ flotsam, it’s speedy dual-threat Rakeem Boyd. While his offensive line succumbed to various injuries last season Boyd gained 734 rushing yards at six yards per carry and caught 23 passes.
And though his O-line returns just two starters from 2018’s corps, Boyd’s stock should rise in his second season with the Hogs.
Honorable mention in this category goes to TE C.J. O’Grady. O’Grady grabbed 30 passes last year while adding 400 yards and six TD’s.
These two may become an uplifting one-two offensive combo throughout an otherwise bleak campaign.

Futures: Another palatable schedule is probably worth two to three more wins in Arkansas this season. Outwardly, that doesn’t seem impressive. However, flanked by impressionable, talented newcomers a culture change from doormat to bowl-contender could make a massive impact in 2020. What appears on paper as a giveaway slate for the Hogs could turn into a very pivotal year.
2019 Arkansas Razorbacks Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Uncertainty: After trudging through one of the lesser seasons in SEC history, even with talented youngsters, and a favorable schedule now in tow, it’s hard to envision this group overcoming their predecessors sins.
Beginning with patch work rotations and no standout leader, Arkansas must avail itself against Portland State, Colorado State and San Jose State before entering the SEC West cauldron.

Turnover issues and defensive inexperience can quickly get out of hand vs. Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. Further, meetings against Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Missouri see the Razorbacks in a clear underdog role.
Arkansas Razorbacks Prediction: 5-7
This Arkansas Razorbacks season hinges on how well the offensive line performs. With running seams, Rakeem Boyd can become a breakout SEC performer. Likewise, if transfer QB Ben Hicks, already familiar with the team’s system, has time to locate targets an upset or two could occur and the Hogs could go from SEC-winless to bowl bound.

But, for now layup wins against four schedule-padding mid majors and maybe one SEC win over Ole Miss is the expectation for Arkansas’ 2019.
