2018 Football Preview – AAC – Owls
Looking for 2018 Temple Owls predictions? For years the Owls were the laughing stock of college football, but now this isn’t such a sad program anymore, and it looks like it could be building to be a solid AAC contender year in and year out. Last year was the first season under Geogg Collins but they still managed to make a dominate a bowl game. Now for the Owls it’s all about building on that and for Collins to build a strong program of his own.

2018 Temple Owls Predictions: Team Strengths
Steady Quarterback : Frank Nutile isn’t going to light up the stat sheet or become a star, but he is just the type of quarterback that Temple needs. He came on late last season and showed that he can be a very good game manager.
He will throw for about 150-250 yards per game, and that is just what the Owls offense needs to be successful. As long he isn’t turning the ball over, it’s something that they can deal with.
He also has established receivers on the outside that he can throw the ball to and that is key for this type of offense that Temple Runs.

Look for him to have a strong offseason too, and that should help lead to him playing better this offseason and getting more comfortable in his role.
Disruptions in the Backfield: The Owls defense was elite at one thing last year, getting in the backfield.
Opposing quarterbacks were running for their lives because of the havoc that was wrecked up front, and expect that to happen again this year.
The team had 39 sacks and 102 tackles for losses, and expect much of the same to happen again this year.
2018 Temple Owls Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Questions with the line: The pass blocking was fine last year, and should be a good again this year, the one question is just with how the line will perform in the run game.
Last year the line really struggled in the run game, and they are going to have three new starters, and that isn’t going to help things.
They have good running backs, but if the line isn’t opening up the holes, that is going to make life really tough on the backs and it’s going to have to make them create a lot more on their own.

Tough schedule: The Owls are going to have to go on the road to face Maryland, Boston College, Navy, UCF and Houston and that isn’t going to do any favors for the Owls.
It could turn out to be a strength if they have success in the games, but it sure seems that it will be a weakness.
Temple Owls Prediction: 7-5
The Temple Owls have to gon the road and play some tough teams, but the good news is every team that they play on the road is beatable.
If they can even go 3-2 on the road this season that is going to set them up for a special season in Philadelphia.

I think they will end up finishing with eight wins, and that will be enough to compete in a tough AAC and get another nice bowl game appearance.
