2018 Boise State Broncos Predictions: Team Strengths
Two of a Kind:
Offensive coordinator Zac Hill gets his QB Brett Rypien back who will be taking the helm to an offense that averaged over 400 yards per game and 32 points per game.
Rypien is the cream of the crop in the Mountain West and you could consider him one of the most efficient passers in the country.
Boise State will also be returning their workhorse running back Alexander Mattison to do the grounding and pounding.

He’ll be coming off of a season that saw him rush for 1,086 yards and 12 touchdowns, so if they can get their run game up to par with the pass game, then this team will be scoring a lot of points.
Loaded Defense:
Boise State will be returning a loaded, and when I say loaded, I mean returning 17 of their 18 top tacklers from a season ago.
The ranked as the 22nd best defense in the nation while they allowed just 333 yards per game and 23 points per game.
Their front seven is going to be a bruising and aggressive front that is going to make a habit of stopping the run and living in the backfield.
LB Leighton Vander Esch will be gone, but studs David Moa, Curtis Weaver, and Jabril Frazier will make up one of the best defensive lines in the league.
2018 Boise State Broncos Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Improve The Red Zone Defense:
This is no doubt a loaded Boise State squad, but they did have their flaws from last year, and that was red zone defense.
Their defense gave up touchdowns in 73% of the opposing teams drives that reached inside the 20, while teams converted 88% of their chances in the red zone in total.
[dfads params=‘groups=259&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
This is a ridiculous high number, but they only allowed touchdowns in 55% of the opposing teams drives which is pretty good.
With their loaded defense, I don’t expect this defense to break as often as they did last season.
Boise State Broncos Prediction: 11-1
Boise State is certainly going to have the experience factor on their side and with the way their schedule is set they could run the table, but their first big test is at Oklahoma State.
After that mark your calendars for San Diego State because the cream of the Mountain West will duke it out for supremacy.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
From there on out, Boise State has a manageable schedule to run the table, unfortunately I’ll be backing picking San Diego State to take the Mountain West title this season.
