2017 Wyoming Cowboys Predictions: Team Strengths
NFL Quarterback/Deep running back core: Josh Allen is the teams all everything on offense. As he goes the Cowboys go. Allen passed for 3,203 yards, 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 2016. He also added 523 rush yards and seven rushing touchdowns last year.
With all the talent Allen has to offer, he must have some talented backs and receivers to be successful again this year.
Nico Evans should help Josh Allen carry some of the load on offense. With Brian Hill and his third best rushing yards in the nation (1,860) gone, Evans should be the premier back in 2017.
Running backs Kellen Overstreet and Milo Hall will help contribute at running back when called upon this year.

Let’s also not forget the offensive line. The Cowboys number one priority is keeping Josh Allen healthy. Yes, they lost star center Chase Roullier, but return four starters from last year, making them one of the best lines in the Mountain West.
Talent at Safety: Wyoming returns the best Safety in the Mountain West conference in Andrew Wingard.
Wingard was a star upon arrival at Wyoming. In his freshman year he totaled 122 tackles, then followed the season up with 133 tackles and two picks in 2016.
With Wingard at safety, the teams third best defensive player, Marcus Epps will sure up the best safety tandem in the conference.
Wingard and Epps are hopeful secondary mates, Antonio Hull and Rico Gafford can bring depth to the passing defense this year.
2017 Wyoming Cowboys Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Wideouts/Defensive line?: If Wyoming wants to be better, the Cowboys will need to improve on a defense that gave up 453 yards per game last year. New defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton should bring a new scheme to the Cowboys defense in 2017.

The Cowboys were 7-1 in 2016 when allowing fewer than 200 rushing yards per game. The problem is, when they give up more than 200 rushing yards.
The Cowboys gave up 568 rushing to New Mexico, 401 to UNLV and 200 plus to San Diego State and BYU. All losses
In order for the defensive line to get better, Wyoming will bring back four last years starters on the defensive line, including Carl Granderson if healthy.
Linebacker Logan Wilson and defensive end Kevin Prosser will also help contribute on defense for the Cowboys.
Wyoming lost three of their top receivers coming into 2017. The question remain, who will be Allen’s go to target on the outside?
With a group of young receivers this year, it will take time for them to develop. CJ Johnson returns as the teams number one and was ranked the third best offensive player coming into camp.
There are a lot of holes to be filled at the skill positions for the Cowboys. With the high expectations put on Allen’s shoulders he will need a no name guy to step up.
Wyoming Cowboys Prediction: 6-6
Chad Bohl’s team has a lot of pressure to live up to the hype surrounding the Cowboys this year.
The state of Wyoming wants badly for back to back bowl appearances.

The only way the Cowboys will be able to duplicate the success of last year, is getting better on defense.
Wyoming has a tough schedule this season. With questions on defense and the skill positions, Wyoming will not win the Mountain West title.
Yes, quarterback Josh Allen is the best player in the Mountain West, but the question still remains, can he live up to the hype? With the talent around him, he will come up short this year.
