However, they lost their bowl game again which capped off a 2-4 stretch during their last five games.
2017 Nebraska Cornhuskers Predictions: Team Strengths
Offensive Experience: This is a Cornhuskers team that has to replace its fair share of players, including quarterback Tommy Armstrong.
However, they won’t completely start from scratch as their offensive line unit is solid with plenty of experience. One senior and three juniors led by left tackle Nick Gates an right tackle David Knevel will anchor the line.

Defensive Experience: Nebraska’s defense will undergo a major change as they are moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense. However, their secondary won’t be effected by the change and lucky for them the Cornhuskers have plenty of experience on the back end.
Senior Chris Jones had a quality statistical year in 2016 with nine pass breakups and three interceptions. Jones is a potential draft pick this year.
Also on the back end is Seniors Joshua Kalu and Kieron Williams who will provide plenty of support in the middle of the field.
2017 Nebraska Cornhuskers Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Transition To 3-4 Defense: The Nebraska Cornhuskers have had some problems on the defensive side overall giving up some big yards and points over Mike Riley’s two years at Nebraska. So, changes have been made.

Defensive coordinator Mike Banker was replaced by Bob Diaco and with that a change in defensive philosophy has been made. Long term, the change might be for the best, but for this season there will be plenty of growing pains.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Prediction
7-5
This will be an interesting season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. They should be good enough to be bowl eligible, but it won’t be easy.
Not only will the Cornhuskers be going through growing pains and some transitional periods, but their schedule is pretty tough.

Nebraska has to travel to Eugene early in the season and their schedule is back loaded with some pretty tough opponents. The good news is Nebraska avoids Michigan and they get Ohio State and Wisconsin at home this year.
I’ve got Nebraska with at least five wins in the bank, but after that things get tricky. Overall, I’ll say Nebraska wins seven games this season, but this team could win five to nine wins this year. This will be an interesting year to follow the Cornhuskers.
