2017 Football Preview – Big Ten – Terrapins
Looking for 2017 Maryland Terrapins predictions? The Terrapins had a nice bounce back year as they won six games and made it to a bowl game. They’ll try and make it back-to-back years of making it to a bowl game, but it will be difficult as they lost some key pieces and are still a very young team.

2017 Maryland Terrapins Predictions: Team Strengths
HB Duo: The Maryland Terrapins will look to lean on the impressive two horse backfield in junior Ty Johnson and sophomore Lorenzo Harrison. Johnson had over 1,000 yards last year and had an impressive school breaking record 9.1 yards per pop.
Harrison rushed for 7.2 yards per carry which was a school record for a freshman.

Playmaker: Junior wide receiver D.J. Moore is the playmaker outside that can make some noise. Moore has started in 23 consecutive games and he has nine career touchdowns.
With newly transfer quarterback Caleb Henderson taking the reins look for Henderson to look in Moore’s direction quite a bit.
2017 Maryland Terrapins Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Staying Strong: Maryland lost three defensive linemen from last season and will look to fill in the gaps in the trenches. They got pushed around in the run game and they’ll look to fill in those gaps.

Secondary Help: The Maryland Terrapins will look to get some help in the back end with Deon Jones and Markquese Bell coming in and competing with some of the veterans including Josh Woods and Darnell Savage.
Maryland was 83rd in total defensive yards last year and improving their run game in the trenches and pass defense in the secondary will go a long way.
Maryland Terrapins Prediction: 4-8
There are some pieces for Terrapin fans to be excited about, but this is still a team that is very green. Plus, this year their schedule is pretty brutal with six road games against Texas, Minnesota, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Rutgers, and Michigan State. Ouch. You can chalk up at least four losses right there.
The good news? Well, at least they get Michigan and Penn State at home.

Realistically, Maryland should win at least three games, and I don’t think four is out of the question and another upset somewhere in there could make it five, but getting to bowl eligibility will be a challenge this year.
