2017 MAC Conference Season Football Preview
Looking for 2017 MAC Conference predictions? Last year the MAC Conference was not much a competition. Western Michigan took hold of the conference early and didn’t ever look back. But this year is expected to be different. The MAC is a pretty balanced conference, and the winner of this conference will probably be in a battle all the way to end.

So what team will come out ahead in a very competitive MAC conference?
2017 MAC Conference Odds: Toledo Rockets (2/3)
The popular pick to come ahead of the MAC is the Toledo Rockets, and it should be no surprise. They come into this season as favorites with 2/3 odds.
Last year the Rockets were the seventh ranked offense in all the country, and they relied on it heavily for their success last year.

The Rockets are led by Logan Woodside who will be under center again this year. Last year all he did for the Rockets was lead the country with 45 passing touchdowns.
He has all kinds of weapons around the field to throw too, and I would expect a number close to 45 again this year, barring an injury.
For the Rockets to win the title, it’s going to come down to the defense though. They weren’t terrible last year, but they could improve in some areas. If the defense is better this year, this conference will be won the Toledo Rockets.
2017 MAC Conference Odds: Central Michigan Chippewas (8/1)
The Central Michigan Chippewas come into this season with the second best odds to win the MAC title at 8/1.
Last year was a weird year for the Chippewas. They were strong in their non conference play, but they really struggled in conference play, and it led them to a final regular season record of 6-6.

I am actually surprised to see the Chippewas with such high odds for this season. They do have a good team, but they have one really big question, and it’s at the most important spot, the quarterback.
The other thing they have going against them is the side of the conference they are playing in. They have to compete with the likes of Toledo, Western Michigan, and Northern Illinois. To win the conference they are going to need to have a special season.
2017 MAC Conference Odds: Western Michigan Broncos (8/1)
The reigning MAC conference champs, the Western Michigan Broncos, come into this season tied with the second best odds at 8/1.
After a very successful season last year and a meeting with Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl, most people believe this team will take a step back. They have lost their quarterback to graduation and Corey Davis was a top ten pick in the draft.
As hard as those loses are the most important loss was the head coach. PJ Fleck left to take a job at the University of Minneosta, and recruiting really took a hit because of it.
The offense still has a lot of weapons, and the Broncos are going to be tough this year, but they need to figure out the quarterback play, if they want to repeat.
2017 MAC Conference Odds: Miami Redhawks (9/1)
The Miami Redhawks had one of the weirdest seasons of any team in football last year. They started the season 0-6, but the players never game up and they ended up winning the last six games of the year and even got an invitation to a bowl game.

The Redhawks will have Junior Gus Ragland under center after he finished out the season last year and he was really impressive.
Behind Ragland the Redhawks have most of their impact players back on the offensive side. If this team wants to win the conference title, it’s all going to come down to offense.
