2017 Alabama Crimson Tide Predictions: Team Strengths
Explosive young Quarterback: Jalen Hurts stepped into Tuscaloosa and took over as the most athletically talented QB Nick Saban has had while coaching the Crimson Tide. He is an explosive runner, and has a cannon for an arm.
Hurts routinely made extraordinary plays for Alabama and along with a stout defense led them to the National Title game. He had a poor game throwing the ball but made a number of plays with his legs.

This season Hurts should be in the Heisman Trophy discussion, but it will be a work in progress as he progesses from Lane Kiffin’s offense to the one being run by Brian Daboll who was a key piece of the New England Patriots offensive system and won 5 SuperBowls.
Behind him on the depth chart are top 6 QB recruit Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones.
The best RB unit in the nation : The Crimson Tide don’t rebuild at the running back position they reload, and this year is no exception. Former #1 recruit Damian Harris rushed for over 1,000 yards and Bo Scarborough had over 800 yards on the ground (Jalen Hurts had 954 and was #2).
BJ Emmons is a top 5 running back recruit and he ran for over 500 yards and they also added Josh Jacobs. Each of these runners can be the leading man on arguably every other team in the country and be a threat for 1,000 yards.

When you put in Najee Harris who was the #1 recruit in the country last year I don’t see any reason why the Crimson Tide can’t produce two backs over 1,000 yards.
One of the best secondary’s in the nation? : Last season the Crimson tide had to replace a 3rd team all-conference and a starter at free safety who was their third leading tackler.
The secondary included 1st team All-American Marlon Humphrey and 2nd team All-Conference cornerback Eddie Jackson. They were dominant last year and finished in the top 10 in passing defense efficiency.
They intercepted more passes than touchdowns they gave up (16-15), and that includes the dominant performance by Deshaun Watson.
Returning All-American safety Minkah Fitzpatrick should be the leader in the secondary. This unit has the opportunity to be the best in the country and with their top contributors seeing playing time last year they will be tough to beat.
2017 Alabama Crimson Tide Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Special Teams the only weakness?: The Crimson Tide only possible weakness could be the special teams unit. The unit has had lapses in the key moments (Iron Bowl Kick Six), and lose key players.
Having to replace their kicker, long snapper, and both returners will be a struggle, but their All SEC punter should have a spectacular senior season.
If this unit can get key contributions from their return team then the Crimson Tide will be seemingly unbeatable.
Alabama Crimson Tide Prediction: 12-0
Alabama is arguably the most talented team in the country, and shouldn’t have any issues running the table in the SEC, winning the conference, and making it into the College Football Playoff.
