It was the fourth time since 2010 that the Kansas State Wildcats had nine wins in a season and I have a feeling after 2017 we will be talking about how Kansas State have won at least nine games in a season for the fifth time since 2010.
2017 Kansas State Wildcats Predictions: Team Strengths
Well-Oiled Machine: This Kansas State team is bringing back a ton of weapons on offense. Including senior quarterback Jesse Ertz who possess a threat with his legs as well as his arm.
Ertz isn’t spectacular through the air, but he embodies this Wildcat offense – he’s efficient and he doesn’t make mistakes and that’s all Bill Snyder asks of his quarterbacks.

Justin Silmon is expected to take more of the load with Charles Jones graduating and that should more a less be a seamless transition. Silmon carried the ball 22 times against the TCU Horned Frogs for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
In the bowl game, Silmon rushed for ten times for 77 yards. Basically, Kansas State should have no problems in the running game as Silmon should compliment Ertz very nicely.
Familiar Faces: Kansas State had one of the best offensive lines in college football last year and they should be at the top of lists again this year.
The Wildcats bring back four starters from last year: Senior center Reid Najvar, Junior tackle Dalton Risner, junior guard Abdul Beecham, and sophomore tackle Scott Frantz are all back and will give this offense a strong foundation to run and pass.
This is an offensive line that nobody will want to face and when you have a strong foundation to work with you don’t have to be spectacular at the skill positions.
On the outside, junior wide receivers Byron Pringle and Dominique Heath will be reliable targets for Ertz to throw
2017 Kansas State Wildcats Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Too Slow?: As rock solid as their offense is, their offense could potentially be their achilles heel, as well. There will be games where the Wildcats are down by multiple scores and they will need to score a quick touchdown to stay in the game with limited time remaining.
Will they be able to do it? If history tells us anything they probably won’t be able to do it time and time again. Keeping the ball and controlling the pace of the game will be critical.

Replacing Tackles: Last year, Elijah Lee and Charmeachealle Moore tabulated almost a quarter of their tackles. Lee and Moore are gone and a group of players will have to replace that kind of production.
The most likely candidates to take over are seniors Trent Tanking and Jayd Kirby and juniors Sam Sizelove and Da’Quan Patton. They will replace Lee and Moore, but will they be able to replace that kind of production?
We will have to find out.
Also, the Wildcats will have a tough time replacing Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in Jordan Willis who had 11.5 sacks. The Wildcats will have to find someone, somewhere to try and match that kind of production.
That will not be easy. Expect the defense to take a step back.
Kansas State Wildcats Prediction
10-2
This is Kansas State team looks legitimate and they are a true dark horse not only in the Big 12, but nationally as well.
Realistically, this Wildcat team has the talent, the coaching, and the schedule to run the table this year. It isn’t that much of a stretch to say that. However, I don’t believe they will.
This is college football and we see upsets all the time.
With that said, I do think this Kansas State wins ten wins this season with the upside of being one of the top two teams in the Big 12 and their bowl game.

As far as betting is concerned, if you see any win totals where Kansas State is lower than ten wins, I think you have to hammer the over.
8.5 win, 9.5 wins I’d say go with the over, I know I would – and will if I see anything like that. Kansas State winning the Big 12 isn’t a bad bet either.
It’s a nice 6/1-7/1 value play and it gives you potential hedge leverage if Kansas State is one of the top two teams left standing in the Big 12.
