Dave B’s Fantasy 5 Defense – DST Rankings – DFS
If Week 1 of the NFL season taught us anything it’s that there are some bad offenses out there! Good defenses will eat some teams alive. For example the Redskins, the Jags and the Browns scare nobody and are a great matchup every week for an opposing defense.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 Fantasy D/ST plays for Week 2.
1. Miami Dolphins
vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars provide a superb matchup for any opposing defenses – period! The Fins had some trouble with Alfred Morris last week but they also held Kirk Cousins to 196 yards passing.
The pass rush was a tad disappointing last week but I don’t expect that to happen again. Nkdoakung Suh and company are as intimidating as any D-line out there – it is only a matter of time before they exert their dominance. Against the putrid Jags is a good place to start.
2. Baltimore Ravens
vs. Oakland Raiders
Just like the Jaguars the Raiders provide a bonanza of points for their opposition – don’t worry too much this week about the loss of Terrell Suggs.

The Ravens held the Broncos largely in check in Week 1 – Peyton Manning threw for only 175 yards and the Denver running game rumbled for only 70 yards! The Raiders may be without Derek Carr – even if they are not they will be overmatched by a very good Baltimore defense.
3. St. Louis Rams
vs. Washington Redskins
The Redskins played well offensively last week but I don’t expect the same this week against a terrific St. Louis defense. The Rams held Marshawn Lynch down and limited the effectiveness of Russell Wilson – the Skins are far less dangerous than the Seahawks.
The absence of DeSean Jackson also hurts a Washington offense that looks as though they will be in very tough against the Rams top 5 defense.
4. Houston Texans
vs. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers didn’t exactly light it up last week against the Jags – Cam Newton threw for just 175 yards and a TD and Jonathan Stewart went for just 56 yards on the ground. Enter the Houston Texans who will be a motivated group after getting schooled last week against the Chiefs.
There are too many playmakers on the Texans team not to bounce back. I am expecting a big performance against a Panthers team that has little or no identity as we head into Week 2.
5. Carolina Panthers
vs. Houston Texans

Houston didn’t exactly look like world beaters last week either outside of DeAndre Hopkins.
Houston is a pretty bad road team and is unsure of who will be starting at QB – Brian Hoyer who was ineffective last week or Ryan Mallett who lost the starting nod thanks to a weak preseason. Until Arian Foster comes back there isn’t a whole lot to like offensively for Houston – the Panthers take advantage this week and finish a Top 5 Fantasy unit!
