Guards
Damian Lillard, POR (vs SAC), $9.7 DK, $10.0k FD
If you’ve read our previews lately, you already know about Damian Lillard. The 27-year-old is on one of the best streaks of his career, and he’s right there with Anthony Davis as a Western Conference Player of the Month candidate for February.
[dfads params=’groups=38073&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
On Tuesday, he has the Sacramento Kings at home. The last time these squads faced off? That was Feb. 9, and all Lillard did was drop 50 points, six assists, three steals and eight three-pointers in just three quarters.
Kyle Korver, CLE (@ BKN) $3.6k DK, $3.5k FD
In the interest of avoiding over-exposure to your backcourt on a night that doesn’t feature a surplus of top-tier guards, we’re looking for value with the next pick.
Although Kyle Korver would typically represent too big a risk, the Cleveland Cavaliers have every incentive to beat a Brooklyn Nets team that has indirectly given them their first-round draft pick for the coming offseason.
Korver is just six games removed from a 30-point night that saw him collect 40.75 FPTS, and he’s averaging a modest 16 FPTS per night over his last three.
Forwards
Bobby Portis, CHI (@ CHA), $6.5k DK, $7.1k FD
If you can afford LeBron James on Tuesday, take him. His matchup against a fast-paced Brooklyn Nets team is going to make him worth every penny.
But if you’re like us, you’d rather gather multiple second- and third-tier players instead of seeking out multiple value picks beyond just his teammate Korver.
That leaves us looking at Chicago’s Bobby Portis. Against an obviously tanking Charlotte Hornets team, he’ll be set to get back on track after his off night against Minnesota, where he went for just 21.5 FPTS two nights after getting 53.5 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Jarrett Allen, BKN (vs CLE), $4.7k DK, $5.4k FD
As much as the Cleveland Cavaliers did at the trade deadline to get younger and more athletic, they still haven’t figured it out at the level a championship contender should. That includes on defense, where the team is still in the bottom half of the league when defending DFS forwards.
On Tuesday, Jarrett Allen has a chance to exploit that defense in the paint and in transition. He’s coming off a strong 18-point, nine-rebound, three-block, two-assist performance on Monday, and he’s just six games removed from hanging 46.5 FPTS on the Detroit Pistons.
Centers
Joel Embiid, PHI (@ MIA) $9.4k DK, $10.2k FD
Nikola Jokic is the NBA’s top center playing on Tuesday night, but at over $1k more than Joel Embiid, we can’t justify him going up against a rebounding machine in DeAndre Jordan.
Embiid, while going up against another stat-stuffing big man in Hassan Whiteside, is well worth the cost. Not only is he averaging 57 FPTS per game in his last three, but he has extra incentive to perform considering the on-court (and on-social media) rivalry he has with his fellow center.
Although it’s not always smart to look at “narratives” when making your picks, this one should hold up. Embiid is a special player, and combined with his special ego, he’s a strong choice Tuesday night.
Injuries/Upgrades
- OUT: John Wall, WSH, G [Bradley Beal, Otto Porter Jr., Tim Frazier]
- QST: Kevin Love, CLE, F/C [UPGRADES: Larry Nance Jr.]
One last thing. Remember… at the end of the day if you can’t afford to gamble online OR play at Draft Kings and Fan Duel then STOP. We know most DFS players need action, heck we do too, so just bet what you can afford.
