Bet On College Basketball: Commodores vs Wildcats
Vanderbilt played Kentucky tougher than anyone else in the SEC during the regular season. The Commodores will get one more crack at the Wildcats in Sunday’s SEC Tournament title game.

It was supposed to be Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt for the third time this year, but Mississippi had something to say about that.
This is a game that Tennessee absolutely has to have if they are to have any chance at getting into the field of 68. Even with a win here, they will have a lot of work left in the SEC tournament, but this would give them yet another quality win if they are able to pull it out.
The Florida Gators are looking to finish strong but it wont be easy. To finish their SEC regular season they will be visiting Vanderbilt and following that with a visit from Kentucky to the Swamp.
Kentucky (27-1) is heading for a #1 seed in the Big Dance, but snagging a top seed will not be easy, as they host a hot Vanderbilt (20-8) team that has won 3 straight as well as facing 11th ranked Florida on the road in their season finale.
It was a rocky start to the season for Vanderbilt, but Kevin Stallings’ team has turned things around in a big way over the last few weeks. Vanderbilt is tied for second in the SEC standings at 5-1.

Commodores at Cardinals lines by BetOnline.com
Point spread: Cardinals
Over/Under: OFF
The Vanderbilt Commodores will look to knock the Louisville Cardinals from the ranks of the unbeaten this Friday night when the two teams clash at the KFC Yum Center in this SEC/Big East tilt. This game is set to tip-off at 9 p.m. and it will be broadcast on ESPN.
Vanderbilt is coming off a tough 82-70 overtime loss to No.11 Xavier this past Monday as a four-point home favorite that dropped its record to 5-2 straight-up and 2-3 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in three of the five games with lines.
John Jenkins has been a force for the Commodores with 20.2 point scoring average while logging 34 minutes a game. Lance Goulbourne and Jeffery Taylor have done a good job under the boards with a combined 13.7 rebounds a game. As a whole, Vandy is averaging 75.9 points a game and shooting 45.7 percent from the field. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Louisville has worked its way up the rankings with a solid 6-0 start SU including a 69-53 win over Butler as a four-point road favorite on Nov.19. The Cardinals have covered the spread in four of their first five games with a posted line and the total has stayed ‘under’ in four of the five games.
Kyle Kuric is averaging 12 points a game and Chris Smith is adding another 10.5, but the real strength of this season’s Cardinals is a smothering defense that is holding its opponents to an average of just 48.3 points a game and 33.2 percent from the field.
Louisville should have its hands full with Jenkins in this one, but stick with the Cardinals’ defense to keep the clamps on him just enough to grind out the win at home.
The Pick: Louisville 66 vs. Vanderbilt 63
When Vanderbilt’s three top players elected to return to campus this season the expectations for this team exploded.
Alabama joins its bitter divisional rival LSU in adeptly clear-cutting through the SEC so far in 2011. By all conventional logic, the Vanderbilt Commodores should be the next tree to be felled. The Commodores have definitely exceeded expectations to so far; they are assumed by many to be a perennial SEC bottom-dweller.
Two of the SEC’s bottom-feeding teams open their conference schedule against each other this Saturday in Nashville. Though these teams cannot keep up with the likes of an Alabama, LSU or South Carolina, they are well matched versus each other, which should at least make for an intriguing game.
Frankly, Franklin steps into a mess. The new Vandy head coach inherits a 2-10 team on the bottom rung of the Southeastern Conference.
