Tigers vs. Yellow Jackets Preview/Pick: Chick-Fil-A Bowl

Chick-Fil-A Bowl LSU vs Georgia Tech

LSU did not fare well in the second half of the season, losing 52-38 to Georgia on 31-13 to Ole Miss, along with more competitive defeats suffered at the hands of Alabama and Arkansas. The Tigers were also rescued from the jaws of defeat with a furious 30-point fourth quarter against Troy, otherwise they would have gone into the bowl season with a 6-6 record.

2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl

2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl LSU vs. Georgia Tech Preview

The LSU Tigers went from national champions to a team trying to win the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Things sure change fast in college football, especially in the SEC.
The 9-3 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be playing a home bowl game December 31 when they meet the 7-5 Tigers at the Georgia Dome.  Oddsmakers currently have the Yellow Jackets listed as 4-point favorites versus the Tigers, while the game’s total is sitting at 53.

NCAAF: TRENDS SHOW LSU DROP-OFF

Since reaching #3 in the AP Poll in Week 5, the LSU Tigers have been in a steady decline and nowhere is that more evident than the Sportsbook.com Betting Trends.

Only 27% of bettors like the Tigers as four-point underdogs on New Year’s Eve, a far cry from the support they garnered earlier this season when many felt they were ready to contend for back-to-back championships.

The Betting Numbers

Georgia Tech opened as a 3.5-point favorite at most shops with a scattering of a few at -4 as well as a couple at -2.5. Right away, there was a perfect middling opportunity for those who were able get those numbers. The number has now settled in between -4 to -4.5 and there has been very little movement over the last two weeks. We could see this number increase as we get closer to kickoff. There has been a lot of recent movement in the total however as the opening number of 49 and 50 stayed put for a while but has gone up to as much as 53 in some outlets over the last week.
