I would have said that Florida’s Tim Tebow was the most celebrated college football player in a generation – that is, until Johnny Football came along.

The news from this year’s Chick-fil-A bowl has not been about how the teams to players will match up, but rather how they won’t.
Only No.12 Texas A&M and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel stand in the way of No. 8 Missouri and the SEC Championship game in just their second year in the conference.
The 22nd-ranked LSU Tigers will look to get back above .500 in the SEC and make a positive mark on an otherwise disappointing season on Saturday when they host the 12th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, who will be looking to make some BCS noise with a win of their own.
A pair of teams with explosive quarterbacks will face off on Saturday when No. 12 Texas A&M hosts Mississippi State at Kyle Field.
This game is a total mismatch and perhaps the only interesting thing about it is that the Miners starting quarterback Jameill Showers started his career in College Station. He was the backup to Johnny Football last year but transferred out of there when it was obvious he wasn’t going to play.
The 16th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies were one of the SEC’s many casualties in Week 8, and begin their trek to get back inside the AP top 10 on Saturday when they take on another SEC foe, the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Since losing to Alabama there hasn’t been a ton of talk about Texas A&M or Johnny Football in the national media. The fact is that they are still gunning for a BCS bid as they take on this very mysterious Auburn team.
Missouri is at 22-9 and 11-7 in SEC play so they look to be a safe bet to make the Big Dance, but the same cannot be said about Texas A&M. The Aggies only have 18 wins and they were 4 games under in conference play and unless they win the SEC tourney they will not get invited to the Big Dance.
In the first round of the SEC tournament Auburn faces Texas A&M and the Aggies are really on the Big Dance bubble at 17-14 and 7-11 in SEC play and they need to go far in this tourney and may have to win it to get a NCAA tourney bid.
Florida won their season opener and as the game was an audition for the starting QB position Jeff Driskel will get the start under center.
5th ranked Kansas (22-5) is one game up on Missouri, who they face in their next game, in the Big 12 standings and they have a great chance to win their 8th Big 12 title.
Texas A&M came into this season with high hopes, but second half blunders cost this team a chance at a special season. Mike Sherman was replaced by Kevin Sumlin as head coach of the Aggies.
Both these Big 12 teams have struggled lately losing their last 2 games and Texas A&M heads into this game shorthanded with leading rusher Christine Michael, who is out with a knee injury.
Texas A&M (4-2) has gotten over 2 close losses, which likely cost them a chance at a BCS bowl game, but they are back on track with 2 solid wins in a row, especially beating a ranked Baylor team last week.
This Big 12 rivalry is known as the “Battle of the Brazos” and this game should have a ton of fireworks since Baylor ranks 4th in the nation in scoring and Texas A&M ranks 18th.
