The Houston Texans blew their Monday game against the Tennessee Titans, losing 20 to 17 as 6 ½ point favorites in the NFL sportsbook, and now face a must win game this Sunday. Houston is 5 and 5 straight-up and considering how many playoff contenders there are in the AFC, Miami and Baltimore are both 5 and 5, Pittsburgh and Denver are 6 and 4, any loss, or win, from here on out is going to vault you into playoff contention.

I still can’t get my head around the fact that the Cincinnati Bengals are leading the AFC North right now. The Bengals! Thanks to some miracle work on Carson Palmer’s part (and some mistimed penalties on the Ravens’ part), the Bengals used the fourth quarter to mount another improbable comeback. They’ve beaten every team in their division already, and have gone 5-2 ATS in their last 7 at home. For a team that has been in utter turmoil for countless seasons, it’s a very sudden change.
If not for the outstanding play of Matt Schaub (300.6 passing yards per game), the Texans would be getting demolished. They’ve allowed 28.7 points and 205.0 rushing yards against per game. Good thing for them they get to play at home against Oakland, the second worst offense in the league. JaMarcus Russell a huge bust this season, leading an offense that generates just 223.0 yards per game and has managed an average of 12.0 points per game.

The Bears tried to kill themselves last week, showing even less imagination of offense than they normally do, but they stayed with it and took advantage of Packer mistakes to keep themselves alive for another week.
They also had some incredible luck.
