Despite posting a respectable 7-5 record with all of my Week 5 NFL selections in the BetUS Locker Room on Sunday, football bettors need to take into consideration several eye-opening facts about a handful of teams heading into Week 6.
Let’s get to some of the more interesting happenings on Sunday!
While Week 4 in the NFL provided some interesting ‘upsets’ I thought the week played out pretty much like I expected – and predicted – for my beloved NFL Sportsbook betting fanatics.
The NFL wasn’t short of drama on Sunday as two major upsets caused some football betting fans reeling. Other teams solidified their status as terrific worthy playoff contenders while some seemingly up and comers were brought back down to earth.
The Patriots, Colts and Giants highlight the teams on a bye this week. Heading in to the Week 4 betting odds and lines, too many teams have too many questions for their betting faithful. We have some great games on the board, so let’s blitz through them and see who you should be taking, and which spread donkeys you need to steer clear of.
Week Three in NFL wagering Sunday is in the books, so let’s get to the highlights!
Miami Dolphins + 13 + 550 vs. New England Patriots – – The + 13 was bad enough but how about the Dolphins coming out and not just destroying the spread in their game versus the New England Patriots but beating the Pats straight-up on the BetUS Sportsbook moneyline at + 550? Yes, Matt Cassel was starting ahead of Tom Brady, but the Pats were at home. This was a devastating blow to not only the Patriots but online wagering fans who believed the Patriots would squash the Dolphins. Tough loss.
What a week in NFL betting! An injury to Tim Wakefield left a hole in Boston’s rotation – and they’re hoping that Paul Byrd can plug it through the end of the season. The righthander was picked up from the Indians in a deal on Tuesday afternoon, and he’s going to take Clay Buchholz’s start at Fenway Park on Friday. Buchholz, though, will probably remain in the rotation, since the team’s Charlie Zink experiment didn’t turn out well in that slugfest on Tuesday night.
Byrd (7-10, 4.53 ERA) had earned the victory in each of his last four starts as a member of the Indians, giving up just four earned runs over 29 innings of work in that span. As well, Byrd’s last outing actually came against Toronto on August 9, and he surrendered only two earned runs on six hits over a full nine innings in that game. Byrd hasn’t given up a home run since July 4 in a loss to the Twins.
