The Stanley Cup Playoffs are just over one week away and the current odds show that Regular Season success translates to good Cup winning odds.
There are definite contenders and some pretenders as well.

Two weeks to go in the regular season and the cream is rising to the top. The good teams that were struggling last week seem to have righted the ship while the poor teams continue to struggle. There is some changes near the top as the elite flip flop positions as they have all season.
4 weeks to go until the end of the regular season and some of the cream is really rising to the top of this week’s Power Rankings.
Unfortunately, there is some cream that is sliding down the leg as well. Some overachievers are falling back to earth and some underachievers are finally playing up to their perceived potential.
Week 21 is over in the NHL’s regular season and there has been some movement at the top of the Power Rankings. Most teams had so-so weeks leaving the teams that had good weeks to jump in this week’s rankings.
With more and more to play for in the coming weeks, these rankings are going to change like John Mayer’s Speed Dial!

The Olympic Break over and now it is time for the stretch drive toward the Stanley Cup playoffs. There has been some movement in the Power Rankings as some teams were more obviously ready to play than others. This week also saw some teams better themselves with key acquisitions at the NHL trade deadline.
The Olympic Break is finally here and for some teams, it couldn’t have come too soon. Although there is not much change at the top of the rankings, some teams are rounding into form and are gaining ground on teams ahead of them.
This will be the last Rankings column for a couple of weeks as NHL teams will be resting and obsessing over the Olympic tournament that promises to be one of the best ever.
