NFL Football Picks: Handicapping Angles – Week 8 Free Parlay

Week 8 FREE NFL Parlay Picks

The Chicago Bears cost me last week’s NFL two-team parlay after Carolina and Green Bay took their game OVER the closing total line just as predicted. The Bears could not even win their game against Miami straight-up after closing as three-point home favorites in 27-14 loss.

Week 8 NFL Point Spreads: Betting Tips & Expert Free Week 8 Picks

NFL 2014 Week 8 Odds

NFL Week 8 is on the horizon – it kicks off with an intriguing Thursday night AFC West clash. Week 7 was typically schizophrenic – there were some upsets, some blowouts and some record-setting performances. This week figures to bring more of the same.

Week 8 Pointspreads & Handicappers Insight

[dfads params=’groups=63740&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The trick is predicting which game may have that unforeseen result.

Let’s take a look at all of the Week 8 games, the odds that accompany them and what may play out in what is sure to be another whacky week of NFL ball.

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Chargers at Broncos
Week 8 Point Spread: Broncos -7 1/2

The Chargers played the Broncos tough last season – beating them in Week 15 and covering in the playoffs. That said this version of the Broncos is far too complete and far too confident to let this one slip away. The Chargers were exposed last week against Kansas City – they may have overrated for the first six weeks of the season.

Lions vs. Falcons @London, England
Week 8 Point Spread: Lions -3 1/2

Atlanta has been a disaster lately – and Sunday’s game in London is on the road – where the Falcons have been brutal.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Lions won last week without Calvin Johnson – impressive indeed. The Detroit defense should dominate in this one en route to an easy Lions victory.

Vikings at Bucs
Week 8 Point Spread:
Vikings +3

The Vikings have found themselves a running game! Although Tampa Bay is coming off a bye, it is pretty hard to like any aspect of their game. Minnesota should have won in Week 7 – karma gives them the victory this week.

Bears at Patriots
Week 8 Point Spread:
Patriots -6 1/2

The Bears lost at home to Miami in Week 7 – at ton of bickering followed. For some reason this team looks anything but the cohesive unit required to defeat a suddenly HOT Patriots team. Although the Bears are 3-1 ATS on the road this season, there appears to be too much dissention in the room for me to support them.

Rams at Chiefs
Week 8 Point Spread:
Chiefs -6

Both teams are coming off big wins in Week 7 – it was the Chiefs that impressed the most in their road win at San Diego. When Jamaal Charles is going well and Alex Smith is taking care of the ball the Chiefs are a tough team to beat – that’s what is happening now.

Seahawks at Panthers
Week 8 Point Spread:
Seahawks -4

The loser of this game falls below .500! Incredible I know. The last two games between these teams have been close and it has been low scoring. I am expecting more of the same. But Carolina’s league-worst run defense will be the determining factor – Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and company should be able to run at will. The Seahawks get a much needed win – 20-14.

Bills at Jets
Week 8 Point Spread:
Jets -3

The Jets have some reason for optimism – a close loss to the Patriots in Week 7 and the addition of Percy Harvin have things looking good for the one-win team. Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller will both miss this game giving a huge edge to the Jets.

Dolphins at Jaguars
Week 8 Point Spread:
Dolphins -5

Jacksonville got their first win of the season last week and covered the spread for the second straight home game while limiting the Browns to just six points. Miami seems to be on a bit of a roll however – their offense is clicking and the defensive line is among the best in the game. It all adds up to an easy win for the Fins as they harass Blake Bortles into a few game-changing mistakes.

Texans at Titans
Week 8 Point Spread:
Texans -1 1/2

The Texans played well Monday night except for a 3 minute stretch that changed the game. Expect a bounce back as Arian Foster dominates.

Ravens at Bengals
Week 8 Point Spread:
Ravens +2 1/2

The Bengals have been a disaster the last couple of weeks while the Ravens have once again become a contender in the AFC. IF AJ Green is forced to sit again it will be a long day for Cincinnati once again. It is hard to imagine the Bengals turning things around even if Green does play! Take Baltimore to make another statement in the AFC North,

Eagles at Cardinals
Week 8 Point Spread:
Eagles +2 1/2

The Eagles, off a bye should be ready to play against a very good Cardinals team this week. Philadelphia is 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and with LeSean McCoy finally showing up I like Philadelphia to keep pace with the Cowboys.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Colts at Steelers
Week 8 Point Spread:
Colts -2 1/2

Nobody is holding the Colts down right now – at home or on the road. Indianapolis’s defense is just good enough to hold Big Ben and company down enough for the offense to do its thing. 27-20 for the Cols looks about right.

Raiders at Browns
Week 8 Point Spread:
Raiders +7

The Browns allowed the Jaguars their first win of the season last week and will be in tough again this week against the other winless team.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Interim coach Tony Sporano has the Raiders playing much better ball and after two solid efforts, take the Raiders to at least keep this game close.

Packers at Saints
Week 8 Point Spread:
Packers +2

New Orleans’ defense just can’t get it together and their offensive line just can’t keep Drew Brees upright. The Packers are on a roll after an unflattering start to the season. Although the Saints are 10-0 in their last 10 home dates, don’t expect them to cool off the Packers who are clicking on all cylinders right now.

Monday, October 27, 2014

Redskins at Cowboys
Week 8 Point Spread: Cowboys -9 1/2

AFC East games are always tight but there is no denying that the Cowboys are the hottest team in the NFL right now. The Skins are coming off a win but a QB controversy has reared its ugly head in the Nation’s Capital. Washington’s defense has been a nice surprise but holding down Dallas’s top ranked running game as well as Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Terrence Williams is a tall task to say the least. Take Dallas to continue their meteoric rise up the Rankings with another impressive win.

Week 7 FREE NFL Parlay Picks

New England came through in the front-end of last week’s NFL two-team parlay, but the New York Giants’ offense never showed-up last Sunday night against Philadelphia in a 27-0 loss that I had going OVER the closing 50-point total.

They say that football is a game of inches, but when it comes to wagering on this sport it is a matter of points. I missed-out on cashing-in on my second-straight NFL two-team parlay last week by a half-point with a play of the OVER on the total line in the Giants 30-20 win over Atlanta.

NFL Football Picks: Handicapping Angles – Week 5 Free Parlay

Week 5 FREE NFL Parlay Picks

Last week’s two-team parlay proved that it pays to shop around when it comes to betting odds in the NFL. The extra half point I got on BetOnline’s Eagles vs. 49ers game when I booked my parlay was the difference between a losing ticket and a healthy payoff.

I will try and hit my third NFL parlay in the first five weeks of the season with another solid two-team play for this Sunday’s games based on betting odds from BetOnline.

Game 1 – Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants

Pointspread: New York -4
Total Line: 50.5

I am not sure if the Atlanta Falcons are going to be able to pull-off a worst-to-first run in the NFC South this season, but I do know it will be fun to watch them try. Win or lose they have been able to put points on the board.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Matt Ryan has been throwing the ball all over the field with 1,263 passing yards and 10 touchdowns and his favorite target Julio Jones has lit it up as well with 29 receptions for 447 yards and three scores.

The Falcons are ranked second in the league in scoring (32.8 points) and their defense is ranked 28th in points allowed (28.2).

The Giants sleep-walked their way into the new season with sloppy losses to Detroit and Arizona, but they are awake now with back-to-back victories over Houston and Washington by a combined score of 75-31. Eli Manning has returned to form after struggling with turnovers his first two games and Rashad Jennings has revitalized the running game with 341 yards on the ground.

This will be a big test for both of these 2-2 teams, but the net result will be more than 50 combined points on the scoreboard.

4* NFL Parlay Pick: OVER Total

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Game 2- Cincinnati Bengals vs. New England Patriots

Pointspread: Cincinnati -1
Total Line: 45.5

The Bengals are just one of two teams left in the NFL with a perfect record, but they have only played three games after last week’s bye.

The bandwagon for this team is standing room only if you believe all the various power rankings that are currently released on a weekly basis, but I am not completely sold.

The numbers do paint a strong case against my skepticism with a defense that has allowed a total of 33 points in its first three games complementing an offense under the direction of Andy Dalton that has put up an average of 26.7 points per game.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

You can get a seat anywhere you want on New England’s bandwagon after Monday night’s 41-14 pasting by Kansas City as a 2.5-point road favorite. People started jumping off the week before when the mighty Patriots had to squeeze by lowly Oakland 16-9 as hefty 13.5 point favorites at home.

The problems with the offense are obvious as Tom Brady has been under constant pressure all season long and the defense has had its issues stopping the run.

I had New England going to the Super Bowl this season, so despite all the concrete evidence to the contrary, I am staying on the bandwagon for at least one more week with a play on the Patriots plus the point at home this Sunday night.

4* NFL Parlay Pick: Pats ATS

NFL Football Picks: Handicapping Angles – Week 4 Free Parlay

Week 4 FREE NFL Parlay Picks

A 1-1 record on a parlay does you no good in this game as I went down in flames picking the UNDER in the Houston vs Giants game after cashing-in on New Orleans in the front end of last week’s two-team play.

That means it is back to the drawing board for Week 4 in the NFL to find another pair of matchups that are sure-fire winners based on betting odds from BetOnline.

Game 1 – Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

Pointspread: Green Bay -1
Total Line: 50.5

There may be some concern in Green Bay over the team’s unexpected 1-2 start but do not tell that to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. His response to those concerns this week was to tell everyone to “relax”, which I completely agree with.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

This offense is still built to put points on the board and it has a golden opportunity to prove my point this week against a Chicago defense that is ranked 23rd in the NFL in total yards allowed.

Despite some issues finding the end zone so far, the total has gone OVER in Green Bay’s last six games in Week 4 of the regular season.

There is no doubt that the Bears’ offense can find the end zone in a hurry. Jay Cutler led the team back from a 13-point hole against San Francisco in Week 2 with 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

This past Monday night against the Jets, Chicago rode a fast start out of the gate to its second-straight win of the year.

Cutler has thrown for 750 yards and eight touchdowns in his first three games. The total has gone OVER in seven of the Bears’ last eight games in Week 4 of the season and it is going OVER again this Sunday afternoon at Soldiers Field.

4* NFL Parlay Pick:

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Game 2 – Philadelphia Eagles vs. San Francisco 49ers

Pointspread: San Francisco -5.5
Total Line: 50.5

The Eagles have made an art out of digging themselves into an early hole only to climb out of it with a furious comeback to win their first three games.

In fact, they set a new NFL record with three-straight wins to start a season after falling behind by double-digits against Jacksonville, Indianapolis and Washington.

In the process Philadelphia has scored 101 points in those three wins. Nick Foles has proven that last year’s gaudy stats were not a fluke with 978 passing yards and six touchdowns and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin’s knee appears to be 100 percent with 16 receptions for 296 yards and three scores.

The 49ers have been the polar opposites in their stunning 1-2 start.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

They have built a comfortable lead in their first three games with a total of 59 points in the first half only to watch their last two games against Chicago and Arizona slip away with a dismal performance in the second half.

All told, San Francisco has scored a grand total of just three points in the second half this season.

I had this team taking a step backwards this season after three-straight runs to the NFC title game, but the Oddsmakers have given the 49ers the benefit of the doubt with a 5.5-point spread against a team that only gets better as the game wears on.

The Eagles plus the points is the biggest gift on the board and my back-end pick for this week’s two-team NFL parlay.
