Zips vs Volunteers NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping
There is no way to sugarcoat it, Akron is one of the worst programs in the nation right now – no matter how badly they beat FCS Morgan State (66-6) last week.

The Louisville Cardinals are certainly looking like the best team in the BIg East this year. However, they would be wise to not take the Golden Panthers too lightly, again.
These two are in the same division so this is likely for a spot in the ACC Championship game. Clemson has started strong beating Auburn in the opener and then coasting against Ball State and Furman.
Vandy fought hard but they came up just short in games against South Carolina and Northwestern.
Well it looks like Kansas State is once again exceeding expectations. They are undefeated heading into Oklahoma looking to prove that they deserve their current lofty ranking.
After a couple of rough seasons many are predicting the return of Longhorns football as we used to know it. There has always been lots of highly touted talent and we have been told that this is the year it is fitting back together again.
Its a new era in Houston. No more Case Keenum and no more Kevin Sumlin. Hopefully not no more victories. They are off to an 0-2 start including a bad opening game against Texas State in which the Cougars scored just 13 points.
Utah State should be feeling as about as good as could be coming into this tough road matchup. Last week, in a rare nationally televised game, they beat Utah in overtime. They hadn’t beaten the Utes in some time and will look to carry that momentum into Madison.
I am not sure the Fighting Irish deserve that #19 ranking after wins over Navy and Purdue, the latter a nail-biter at home.
It has been a pretty ugly start for Idaho. First they lose to FCS Eastern Washington (at home) while scoring just 3 points. Things were a little better last week as they hung in there on the road against Bowling Green losing by just 8.
I have to admit that I am bullish on Miami this season. I didn’t get to see a ton of their opener against Boston College but they won in hostile territory and that is what this program needs wins…they just need to get their confidence back – the swagger.
Duke really impressed me last week with their throttling of Florida International last week. I really liked FIU as an upset candidate but they beat the Golden Panthers by 20 points in a game that might not have even been that close.
You have to love a team called the Governors right? But what you can’t love is that this team was just spanked by Western Kentucky – a team that is not even expected to compete in the Sun Belt this season.
Except for the whole scandal thing coach Butch Davis did a fantastic job at UNC. Under his watch the Tar Heels cranked out NFL talent and there is still plenty left on the roster a couple of years later.
The Ball State Cardinals opened the season with a solid home victory against Eastern Michigan. I know it didn’t make national headlines from the opening weekend but it gave them a head start towards competing in the MAC.
The East Carolina Pirates emerged from Week 1 unscathed, collecting an easy win against Appalachian State (at least score wise). They always schedule up in the non-conference so it is no surprise to see them making the short trip to South Carolina.
