The 22nd-ranked LSU Tigers will look to get back above .500 in the SEC and make a positive mark on an otherwise disappointing season on Saturday when they host the 12th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, who will be looking to make some BCS noise with a win of their own.
The 2013 edition of this matchup isn’t being hyped as “The Game of the Century,” but anytime the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide take the field, you know you’re in for a battle.
At first glance, this looks like the typical story of David and Goliath. But look closer.

When you play in the SEC it sometimes can be hard to tell just how good you really are. The Rebels have won all the games they were favoured in save one and the same has been true with them as the underdogs, losing all except one.
For the second week in a row the Mississippi State Bulldogs showed they are not quite among the elite in the SEC. This time at home to Texas A&M they were stormed out of the gate by the Aggies.
I mean no disrespect to the Towson Tigers but they lost by 20 points to Kent State so I can hardly imagine what LSU might do to them Saturday.
It has been a pretty ugly start for Idaho. First they lose to FCS Eastern Washington (at home) while scoring just 3 points. Things were a little better last week as they hung in there on the road against Bowling Green losing by just 8.
The boys from Baton Rouge had a flawless 2011 season before rival Alabama shut them out in the BCS title game, 21-0. For the balance of the campaign, LSU had a defense that might have been the only unit more imposing than Alabama’s.
The top team in the country will be on display Friday afternoon at the Georgia Dome. LSU beat Arkansas and they’ll get a second chance at the Wildcats.
When LSU beat Marquette it was thought that the SEC might have more depth than expected this year.
College football’s Holy Grail will feature a re-match of the two best teams in the nation; all the BCS whining and quibbling aside, that ought to be the aim of this match-up. Oklahoma State fans and SEC haters might disagree with me, but if you watched Alabama and LSU extensively this season, you know it is the truth.
The Marquette Golden Eagles are still among the unbeatens in college basketball. This marks just the second true road game for them but it should be a little bit easier than when they beat the Badgers up in Madison.
