2015 Jacksonville Jaguars Season Predictions

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been stuck in the AFC cellar for a long time now. Since the 2010 season, the Jags have just 14 wins to 50 losses and have had zero success on both sides of the ball. Over the past 2 seasons, the Jags have won just 7 games combined.

The Dallas Cowboys (6-3) and Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) will play at the Wembley Stadium in London at 1PM on Sunday. Cappers Picks provides free NFL picks throughout the entire season.

Dallas couldn’t get anything done on offense last week with Weeden at QB.

Tony Romo will be back in the line-up this weekend and he won’t need to be 100% in order to be beat the hapless Jaguars.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Romo is going to play, as Dallas absolutely needs to win this game before their bye week. Jacksonville is a terrible team, but even they could potentially beat the Cowboys with Weeden starting at QB.

Another problem when Romo doesn’t play is that opposing defenses can zone in on the run. Arizona did a great job of bottling up DeMarco Murray. It was Murray’s first game with less than 100 rushing yards.

The Jaguars defense can’t stop anyone, as they allow 27.9 PPG (30th), 263.4 PYPG (25th) and 123.4 RYPG (24th). I’m sure Dallas will look to utilize Murray early and often to limit the wear and tear on Romo.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Just having Romo on the field will make the Jags defense respect the pass. Dez Bryant will also demand the football after last week’s outing. I really think Murray will have 2 TD’s and 150+ rushing yards.

Dallas still has the #1 rushing attack (153.4 RYPG) and they’re scoring 25.6 PPG (10th). Blake Bortles has given the Jags some life on offense, but I expect him to struggle against an angry Dallas team.

The Jags average 15.7 PPG (32nd), 212.0 PYPG (27th) and 101.1 RYPG (21st). However, those numbers are improving. Jacksonville has scored 24 points and 23 points in two of their last three games.

Defensively the Cowboys haven’t been overly great despite only allowing 21.7 PPG (9th). They rank 16th against the pass (237.3 PYPG) and 17th against the run (113.2 RYPG), but don’t give up many points.

Jacksonville likely won’t be able to run on the Cowboys. Bortles may have some success through the air, but the Cowboys will be able to hold the Jaguars to FG’s while the Cowboys will score TD’s.

4* Free NFL Pick: Dallas Cowboys vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags are 2-6-1 ATS this season and they’ve been terrible all season. Last week they actually put up a lot more points than I thought they would, but they still ended up losing by double digits.

Dallas Cowboys –7.5 (-110)

These teams haven’t played since 2010, so there are no H2H trends. Dallas is simply the much better team and this game means a lot more to them, as they need to keep pace with the Eagles in the NFC East.

This week’s match up between the Colts and Jaguars was probably pegged as a walk in the park for Indy, even before the season got underway. What many people likely didn’t see coming is that both teams would be at 0-2 records after two weeks of play.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Okay, perhaps most predicted that the Jags would still be without a win, but the Colts are 0-2 for the first time since 2011 when Peyton Manning went down with a neck injury. This start also marks the first time in his career that QB Andrew Luck has lost back to back games.

Since 1990, only 12 per cent of teams that start 0-2 have made the playoffs and if either team wants to buck that trend this week is a must win game.

Jaguars

Let’s start with the home team who have been pretty much par for the course to this point. The Jags are just not a good football team, it’s that simple. They showed some flashes early in week one against the Eagles, jumping out to a 17-0 lead at half, only to lose by a count of 34-17. In week two against another NFC East opponent in the Washington Redskins, they were torched by backup QB Kirk Cousins to the tune of 41-10.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

If there’s one shred of a silver lining for the Jags this week it’s that they will get the comforts of home cooking, as their first two games of the year were on the road.

The Jags rank dead last in yards per game on offense 30th in points scored per game and dead last in points per game allowed on defense. It’s going to be a long year, sorry Jags fans.

Colts

If the Colts ever needed a game against Jacksonville, this is certainly it. After opening their season against two potent offenses in Denver and Philadelphia, the Colts get a break against one of, if not the worst offense in the league this week.

The Colts and Jags share not only their 0-2 records, but they were both victimized by Philadelphia Eagles comebacks. On Monday night the Colts looked to be in firm control and were eating the Eagles alive with their run game, storming out to a 20-6 lead at the half.

In the second half the Eagles made some adjustments on D and shut the run game down, and the Colts never quite recovered. Their defense ran out of gas late and the pace of Philly had them reeling.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

NFL Week 3 Betting Trends

  • IND are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. AFC South.
  • IND are 13-3 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Under is 17-5 in IND last 22 vs. AFC South.
  • JAC are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games.
  • Under is 13-4-1 in JAC last 18 vs. AFC South.
  • JAC are 3-8-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Road team is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 meetings.

This week will be a different story, if the Colts jump out to a big lead at half, they should have no trouble closing the deal against an offense that has scored just three second half points to this point in the season.

Week 3 Colts vs. Jaguars 4* Free Pick

I don’t really see any reason why the Colts shouldn’t roll the Jaguars in this one. Seven points is very generous to Jacksonville and if this game were being played in Indy, I’d expect it to be more in the realm of 14 points.

ATS Pick Colts -7 (-105)

Home field won’t help the Jags out much this week as the Colts are a playoff caliber team that is going to be out for blood this week after a disappointing 0-2 start.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2014 Gambling Odds & Handicapping Preview

2014 Jacksonville Predictions

The Jacksonville Jaguars went 4-12 last season, which as unfathomable as it seems, gave them twice as many wins as they collected in 2012. Luckily for the franchise, numerous changes were made this offseason, giving the team hope that it can at least become relevant again in 2014.
