There is no team in the NHL playing better right now than Vancouver. They have points in nine straight games, and 11 of the last 12. That puts them comfortably on top of the Northwest Division, and third in the conference.
NASHVILLE PREDATORS -155 over St. Louis Blues
Following the loss of Lee Stempniak in a ballsy trade by the Blues, St. Louis is left with little to nothing on the offensive end. Andy McDonald, Paul Kariya, Eric Johnson, Dan Hinote and now Stempniak are absent from the ice when the pitiful Blues visit Nashville tonight.
Starting at 10:00pm EST, the Vancouver Canucks (13-6-2) look for a season-high fourth straight win overall against the dominating Detroit Red Wings (14-2-3). But if Vancouver is to upset the defending champions, they’ll have to do so without their star goaltender Roberto Luongo, who’s been key to the Canucks’ solid play. His absence has made Vancouver the NHL wagering home underdogs priced at +130 (+1½ -230) in the BetUS hockey odds.
It’s been a long and busy week for the Bruins. Boston plays on back-to-back nights on Friday and Saturday this weekend, which finishes off a run of four games in six nights. The Bruins paid off for NHL betting junkies who went with them in their first two games this week, and they’ll look to extend their streak at home against Florida on Friday and in Montreal on Saturday.

Whatever is happening in Boston is working. They’re averaging 3.06 points per game and allowing only 2.28 behind Tim Thomas’s burly efforts in net. That ranks their defense third in the league. Not bad for a team that was estimated to hover in the doldrums of the NHL
We’re settling into the slow, steady rhythms of the middle of the NHL season when nothing happens too quickly. This is when we start to learn which teams are here to stay, and which ones are just killing time until golf season starts. To an outsider that may all sound a bit dull, but to hockey fans this is heaven.

Philadelphia Flyers (0-3-3) vs. New Jersey Devils (5-1-0)
The Devils are everything you want in an NHL team, as long as you’re not opposed to low scoring offenses. The Flyers are atrocious right now. Even writing about them in any capacity is frustrating. Look for the Devils to demolish the Flyers tonight without a hitch.

Toronto Maple Leafs (1-2-3) vs. Boston Bruins (2-1-3)
Ron Wilson had one of the more perplexing coaching moves when the Leafs were toppled by the Anaheim Ducks in a shootout. Vesa Toskala, the Leaf’s starting net minder, was pulled in favor for Curtis Joseph, who promptly allowed two goals and earned the loss for the Blue Leafs. Will that ruin the already low morale in Toronto?
New Jersey Devils (2-1-0) vs. Atlanta Thrashers (1-1-1)
The numbers show that both these teams are exactly where we expect them. The Devils haven’t moved away from their lockdown, defensive ways, while the Thrashers are allowing just as many goals as they get. What will happen when their Devils try to maintain their 4-2 SU record against the Thrashers?
Phoenix Coyotes (2-0-0) vs. Chicago Blackhawks (0-2-1)
If the Blackhawks are trying to prove that they’re the up and coming future of the NHL, they’re not off to the kind of start that proves it. Chicago has been outscored 3.67 goals against to 2.00 goals for in their first three contests. Though Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews usually generate some betting confidence, they’re not a safe pick right now for our NHL betting community.
