First Place in NFC North on the Line – Lions Host Packers Thanksgiving Day
Kicking off a terrific slate of games on Thanksgiving Day is an intriguing tilt between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions – two teams that have a chance to seize control of the NFC North but at times seem like they don’t want it.
The Detroit Lions are right in the thick of the postseason picture, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are beginning to make good on what was a terrible first half of the season. The two teams will meet on Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Detroit Lions are now in the driver’s seat in the NFC North. They may not be dominating but they have won their last two games kind of impressively, even if they were only by a combined 3 points.
The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions enter Sunday’s matchup in completely different situations, as Detroit is coming off a bye week and an extended rest, while Chicago is coming off a game on Monday night and a short week.
These teams both come into week 8 with identical 4-3 records. For the Cowboys that puts actually them in first place in the NFC East while the Lions are keeping close tabs on the Green Bay Packers in the North.
A pair of 4-2 teams will meet at Ford Field on Sunday when the Detroit Lions host the Cincinnati Bengals. The winner of the game will take a big step towards a lead in their divisional race, while the loser will have some work to do.
It’s the middle of October and the Cleveland Browns are tied for first place, riding a three-game winning streak.
NFC North divisional battle to start the season for both of these clubs with different sets of expectations based on last year’s performance.
The Detroit Lions looked to capitalize on a huge 2011 season, but promise turned to letdown as the boys from Motor City finished the 2012-13 campaign with an overall record of 4-12.
Both teams are struggling right now. The Lions can try and hurt a rival while the Bears are looking to win and then see what happens in terms of making the playoffs in the tough NFC.
The Detroit Lions are hanging by a thread right now. They are already 3 games behind the Bears in the division and have lost their only two division games to this point as well.
The Lions desperately needed a week off after a tough start to the season. Unfortunately while they were licking their wounds things were getting even tougher with the Vikings winning again and the Eagles losing a nail-biter to Pittsburgh that has to have them pretty mad.
Minnesota pulled off probably the biggest shocker of last week as they beat San Francisco as 7 point underdogs. Sure the game was at home but nobody really gave them a chance of beating a 49ers that was looking like the best in the league.
Many are looking for a regression from the Lions this year. That might be the casee ventually but there is no real evidence yet.
St. Louis The Rams might have been the worst team in the league last year and I am doubtful they have done much to improve themselves.
The Lions reached the 10-win plateau this season to make the playoffs, but they have a tall task to advance facing a red-hot Saints team.
