#18 Fighting Irish (20-8) vs Red Storm (12-16)
They are not a mid-major but Notre Dame may be the most surprising team in the top 25 right now.

Georgetown (20-6) is currently the 8th ranked team in the nation, but since they are coming off a loss to Seton Hall it is unlikely that they will get a #1 seed in the Big Dance.
5th ranked Kansas (22-5) is one game up on Missouri, who they face in their next game, in the Big 12 standings and they have a great chance to win their 8th Big 12 title.
When Big East play began it looked as if defending champion UCONN (16-10) was a shoe in to play in the Big Dance, but since winning their first 2 conference games they are only 4-8 since.
Texas (17-10) is 0-6 facing ranked opponents this season, but they have a good chance to change that facing a struggling Baylor (22-5) team that has lost 3 of their last 4 games.
Florida got over their 2-game losing streak by winning their last game and there is a god shot they will add another W in this game facing a reeling Arkansas team that has lost 4 of their last 6 games. NCAAB lines have Florida as a 5-point away favorite with a total of 145.5.
I think many thought Villanova would struggles some this year but not this badly. Don’t let the record fool you, there is talent on this team but it seems like they are able to find ways to lose even though they often go on some serious in game runs.
North Carolina (21-4) got over their home loss to Duke with an 18-point thrashing against a ranked Virginia team in their last game and now travel to the Sunshine State to face Miami (15-8), who recently had their 5-game winning streak snapped.
Can’t believe Florida (19-6) is only slight favorite in this game against Alabama (16-8), as the Tide will be without their 2 leading scorers and rebounders with JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell both suspended.
Kansas (20-5) got over a little rocky patch where they lost 2 of 3 games by winning their last 2 including beating 6th ranked Baylor.
The Syracuse Orange had a pretty good week last week knocking off Georgetown and Connecticut, the latter more easily than expected at home.
Is it possible a team ranked in the top 5 preseason might not even make the tournament?
The Maryland Terrapins hoops program is going through some lean times. It wasn’t that long ago that they were considered the third best program in the conference after Duke and UNC, but now they are closer to the middle of the pack with the Florida schools rising up.
Kansas (18-5) is looking to avoid losing 2 straight for the first time since 2006 and for that to happen they will need to beat a Baylor (21-2) team that is 11-1 at home this season and has won 4 straight.
I am sure that the last thing Duke wanted leading into the first of two battles with North Carolina was to lose for the first time ever at home against Miami.
Things do not stack up well for South Carolina (9-12) in this home game, as they are facing a Kentucky (22-1) team that is ranked #1 in the nation, has already beaten them by 15 points this season, and on top of that the Gamecocks have lost 6 of their last 7 games.
