Two of the Best Do Battle Thursday Night – Bruins Host Blues
The Boston Bruins return home Thursday night to take on the #3 team in the overall standings, the St. Louis Blues. Both teams are certainly trending upward and have identical 7-2-1 record over their last 10 games and both consider themselves contenders as the season wears on.
Week 13 features two teams playing in Pasadena who are fighting for a spot in the Pac-12 championship. The No. 17 Arizona Sun Devils can clinch the South Division with a win, but the No. 14 UCLA Bruins have other plans in mind.
The Washington Huskies and the UCLA Bruins will face off in the rare Friday night game this week—a game that will be nationally televised on ESPN 2. The Huskies are 6-3, and they’re coming off of two straight wins following three straight losses.

The UCLA Bruins may have lost two of their last three contests, but fans in Los Angeles can find solace in the fact that those two losses came to top-tier competition (No. 13 Stanford and No. 3 Oregon) and that last week’s showing against the Colorado Buffaloes proves they’re still one of the most dangerous teams in the Pac-12.
The No. 20 UCLA Bruins won their first five games of the 2013 college football season, but they’re coming off of two straight losses entering Week 10. The good news for Bruins fans is that the team has shown it can dominate subpar competition up to this point.
Eugene, Ore. will be the site of ESPN’s College Gameday for Week 9, and for good reason. The UCLA Bruins may be coming off of a loss to the Stanford Cardinal, but the once-No. 9 team in the country is 5-1 on the year, and they’ve been getting it done on both sides of the ball.
The 9th-ranked UCLA Bruins will travel to Stanford to take on the 13th-ranked Stanford Cardinal in a rematch of last season’s Pac-12 title game. The Cardinal dropped out of the top 5 in the AP poll after a disappointing loss, while UCLA and quarterback Brett Hundley are rolling right along and look to be a tough out.
The UCLA Bruins are coming off a disappointing 2011-12 college basketball season, but a top-quality recruiting class has helped propel them into the top 25 to begin the season.
Georgetown is the 3rd seed in the Midwest Region, but they have lost in the first round in the last 2 NCAA Tournaments and they face a dangerous Belmont team that made the Big Dance last season and is the nation’s 4th highest scoring team.
Both Arizona (21-10) and UCLA (19-13) are in need of a win in this quarterfinals match up in the Pac 12 tourney, especially UCLA, as they are really on the Big Dance bubble.
Fans can expect a hard-fought game at the McKale Center on Saturday, as Arizona plays host to UCLA in a PAC-12 matinee with both teams fighting for their postseason lives.
If it was the only game the Bruins won all season, it would still be the one, and now they look to extend their short win streak to two when they head to Madison Square Garden to take on a sinking St. Joseph’s Red Storm team that has lost their last four straight.
Like many college football fans, I still can’t believe the UCLA Bruins ended the PAC 12 regular season with a 50-0 blowout loss to rival USC, and still somehow miraculously ended up representing the south division in the inaugural PAC 12 Conference Championship Game this Friday at the No. 7 Oregon Ducks.
