NFL Week 7: Eagles Try to Prevent another Embarrassing Loss

The Philadelphia Eagles were thoroughly embarrassed last Sunday when they lost to the hapless Oakland Raiders straight-up, 13 to 9, as 14 point favorites on the road in the NFL sportsbook.
Stability in the NFL usually trumps change, but this game will give that theory a good test. The Carolina Panthers return basically the same team which stunk out the stadium in a bizarre playoff loss to the Cardinals last January, while the Philadelphia Eagles come in after jettisoning their best back-7 defender (safety Brian Dawkins) and in the process of figuring out what to do with Michael Vick when the former dog torturer joins the team for active duty in Week 3.
Both of the teams that made it to the NFC Championship are big surprises. The Philadelphia Eagles had to beat their arch rivals, the New York Giants, on the road in order to get to the championship game. The Arizona Cardinals had to beat the two seed, the Carolina Panthers, on the road to get to the championship game. Out of the two teams, it’s the Cardinals that have provided the biggest surprises to online betting fans this NFL playoff season.
Sports betting fans have to consider this the most interesting NFL betting game of the NFL Divisional Playoffs as the number one seeded New York Giants take the field against their arch rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were fantastic on the road this past Sunday when easily covering a 3 point BetUS online betting spread against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Eagles roll into Minnesota to take on a Vikings team that was all out to beat the New York Giants last Sunday even though the Giants rested quarterback Eli Manning in the second half. The G-Men have one of the best offenses in the NFL. They have an extraordinary running game. Because of that the suspension of Plaxico Burress shouldn’t hurt this team at all. The Thanksgiving Day night game pits the Arizona Cardinals, coming off of a loss against the New York Giants, against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are in shambles. They were absolutely dominated this past Sunday in Baltimore. It was so bad that Coach Andy Reid benched Donovan McNabb.
I’m sure that some NFL betting fans had circled this game on the NFL calendar as one to take a big swing on. I mean, the Falcons were just horrible last year. Any team that goes through that many changes during the off season – – new quarterback, new coach, different offensive philosophy, etc. – – couldn’t possibly challenge some of the better teams in the NFC for a playoff berth, could it?
The Redskins and Eagles meet in a key match-up this Sunday with the Redskins a half game behind the New York Giants for the NFC East lead. The Redskins, after that first week loss to the Giants, have been absolutely fantastic since.
