While all the talk this offseason has revolved around the new power alliance down in Miami, the Los Angeles Lakers are still the two-time defending world champions and until a team figures out how to beat them four times in a playoff series, that will remain the case.

Top 25 Matchups for Friday and Saturday, February 12 and 13, 2010
Kentucky Wildcats (2) at Tennessee Volunteers (17) 12:00 PM ET
Kentucky has pretty much cruised in the eight games since suffering its first and only loss of the season at South Carolina. The two exceptions however were against Mississippi St. and Vanderbilt and like this one, both of those were on the road. The Wildcats were fortunate to win both of those games and they came home and laid some payback on the Gamecocks by 21 points on Thursday.
As it stands now, the best Auburn can probably hope for, unless it wins the SEC tournament, is a berth in the NIT or CBI. For Florida, however, there is still the possibility of an at-large spot in the NCAA’s, but truth be told, the Gators have to really start hustling to get there. The road loss to South Carolina and the home defeat to out-of-conference opponent Xavier have not helped their cause.

Top 25 Matchups for Friday and Saturday, February 12 and 13, 2010
West Virginia Mountaineers (4) at Pittsburgh Panthers (23) Friday 9:00 PM ET
A rare top 25 matchup takes place on Friday night in the rematch of the Backyard Brawl.
The first meeting in West Virginia saw the Mountaineers win by 19 points, sending Pittsburgh to its fourth loss in five games but it was the extracurricular activities that made the headlines. There were a couple small scuffles as well as fans throwing objects onto the floor at one point.
The Pro and College pigskin seasons are in the books for another year and with March Madness still a few weeks away, many sports betting fans are turning their attention to the NBA.
Duke Blue Devils (7) at Georgetown Hoyas (11) 1:00 PM ET
After starting the season 1-3 on the road, Duke was able to gain some confidence with a rather easy road win at Clemson last weekend. On Wednesday the Blue Devils improved to 5-2 in the ACC with a home win over Florida St. and now steps out of conference for the second to last time this season. This will be the third and final road game this month against a ranked opponent and starts a stretch of a brutal four games. Following this, Duke has a home revenge meeting with Georgia Tech, who won the first matchup this season, followed by two tough road games at Boston College and at North Carolina.
Ohio St. Buckeyes (25) at West Virginia Mountaineers (12) 2:00 PM ET
Ohio St. was going through some struggles to start the month but the Buckeyes are currently riding a three-game winning streak that includes big wins over Purdue and Wisconsin.

Basketball Online Sports Betting Odds: L.A. CLIPPERS -3, Total 197
Chicago got cold the other night (Monday) against Golden State, but there is no mistaking that the Bulls have turned the corner a little since blowing a 35-point lead against Sacramento back on December 21.
Syracuse Orange (5) at West Virginia Mountaineers (9) 12:00 PM ET
Easily the marquee matchup of the day, we get started early with a great matchup. Syracuse is 16-1 on the season including a perfect 5-0 away from home. It has played only two true road games on the season however and those came at Seton Hall and Rutgers so this will easily be the biggest road test thus far and mark the first road game against a ranked opponent.
(13) Connecticut Huskies at (12) Georgetown Hoyas 12:00 PM ET (ESPN)
Connecticut is 11-3 on the season and all three of those losses have come against teams that are ranked or were ranked at one time. The Huskies lost on a neutral floor against Duke, a neutral floor against Kentucky and at Cincinnati, who is no longer ranked. The game against the Bearcats has been the only true road game this season for Connecticut and it is coming off back-to-back home conference wins over Notre Dame and Seton Hall.
When the New Year arrives, we know it’s time to start taking NCAA hoops seriously again. The silly season is over and the games start counting for something in January. Here’s a look at favorites and sleepers among futures odds for the national championship.
Betting on NBA futures is unlike any other major team-sport futures betting, as we all know basketball seriously lacks parity. At least, that’s been the case the last few years.
