The Braves and Giants continue their 4 game set with game 2 on Friday night from AT&T Park. After it looked like Thursday was going to be a low scoring pitchers duel, the Giants exploded late in the game en route to a 7-0 victory.

Now, the Braves will send one of their most reliable pitchers in Mike Foltynewicz, as he goes up against the former Braves Tim Hudson. Hudson will be facing his former team for the first time.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves knew this road trip wasn’t going to be easy.

After avoiding the sweep in Los Angeles with a 3-2 win on Wednesday, they failed to ride that momentum as the offense couldn’t get anything going Thursday.

The team only averages 3.94 runs per contest, but that number drops almost a .5 run on the road as they average just 3.56 runs a game.

They’ll look to avoid losing the first two of the series with Mike Foltynewciz on the hill.

The right hander is coming off his best pitched game of the season as he went 7.2 innings allowing 3 hits and just 1 run in a 2-1 against the Brewers.

This will be just his 2nd road start of the season as he received a no decision in Cincinnati back on 5/12 as he went 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) in a 4-3 loss.

Atlanta looks to change their fortunes against the Giants inside AT&T Park as they’ve now lost 6 of their last 7 there.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants are not just winning games inside AT&T park, they’re doing it while not allowing the opposition to score. In their last 12 home games, they’ve shut their opponent out 8 times, including last night.

The team is clicking on all cylinders as they’ve received some players back to 100% health.

San Francisco will look to Tim Hudson, who pitched with Atlanta for 9 seasons, to continue their home dominance.

Hudson brings in a just a 2-4 record with an above 5 ERA as he’s struggled this season.

In his most recent outing, he went just 3.2 innings allowing 8 runs on 6 hits against the Rockies.

Both of Hudson’s wins in this season have come at home as he’s beaten the Dodgers and Angels inside AT&T Park.

This will be the first time he opposes his former club.

MLB Handicapping Trends:

  • Braves are 7-3 in their last 10 games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.
  • Braves are 6-13 in their last 19 road games.
  • Giants are 26-9 in their last 35 home games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.
  • Giants are 20-7 in their last 27 overall.

Free 4* MLB Pick: Atlanta +137

The struggles of Atlanta at AT&T Park is tough to ignore, but Friday night they have a big advantage in the starting pitcher slot.

Week 5 Falcons vs. 49ers NFL Predictions

NFL Point Spreads Week 5: Falcons vs 49ers

The big news for the Niners recently was the finalized deal with Michael Crabtree. We won’t be seeing him this week. Instead we’re going to see the same team that has gone 3-1 SU, with their lone loss due to an improbably Brett Favre miracle in Minnesota. Both teams are playing strong this season, and in a battle of NFC underdogs, we’re about to find out which team is serious about the playoffs.
