A year ago in this column I looked at the Pittsburgh Steelers, who were projected for 9 wins, and wrote: “The Steelers had 10 wins in 2007 with the No. 1 ranked defense.
Philadelphia. New York. Carolina. Freaking Arizona. Of those four teams, just one was expected to be here. So the real question before us is whether or not the other three teams are for real. Quite frankly, nobody expected Philadelphia to pull up their sucks and turn their season around, while Arizona’s somewhat miraculous escape from the Wildcard Matchup against Atlanta wasn’t foreseen either.
The Ravens’s defense looks ravenous. The Titans and Kerry Collins look nearly unstoppable in every phase of the game. Pittsburgh has the moxy to repeat as Super Bowl Champions within a three year span. And then there’s the San Diego Chargers and they’re upstart nature. So who’s the big AFC juggernaut you want to be backing heading in to this weekend? The answers may surprise you…
