Here come the Chosen Ones.
The NCAA Selection Committee has done its work. The 65 participants in the 2009 NCAA men’s basketball Tournament have been announced; here’s the rundown of the teams that are going into this year’s bracket and their first-round matchups.
March Madness is a great time to root for the underdog teams and the long shot to win it all. Craig is throwing out the 5 favorites and is only looking at the teams that are 15-1 or higher.
Bracketbuster game of the weekend is still Butler @ Davidson: When the BracketBusters pairings came out on Feb. 2, Butler and Davidson were a combined 36-4 and easy choices for the top slot in the weekend’s made-for-TV matchups.
Tonight’s BIG MONDAY college basketball match up might be the game of the year in the Big East. If Louisville can beat there 2nd #1 team in the country in less than two weeks it will put them at 9-0 in the BIG EAST and in first place. Both teams come into tonight’s ESPN game riding winning streaks of 9 straight wins.
Dayton Flyers and an Early Exit
The Dayton Flyers will probably make the NCAA tournament because their record is 18-2 but if you take a closer looks at the Flyers you will see that they will probably not make it past the 1st weekend maybe not day 1. Dayton should be really worried about there weak schedule as the strength of schedule is 143rd. They were able to defeat Marquette and Auburn neutral courts early in the year and also have a home win against Miami, Oh.
Handicappers are always looking for those teams that are over or under rated. The last few years Coach K’s team were over rated living off an illusion of past great teams. Last year pro handicappers got rich off playing against the spread when Duke was favored. But this years team is if you can believe it Under Rated.
Last week we covered the top 5 over all rated college basketball teams and today we will look at the top 5 coaches in college basketball. As a handicapper Craig looks at it a little differently than just your average fan. Most fans of a school just look at the wins and losses but Craig instead looks at it as does this coach have his players performing above or below there potential.
With only one NFL game left it is time to turn my attention to NCAA basketball. It is hard to believe that the NCAA tournament selection show is only 55 days away. I’m going to look at five teams that present a lot of value with 8 weeks remaining in the season. To make the list I will only consider teams who odds makers have listed at 10-1 or higher so as of 1/19/09 that rules out the following teams UNC, UConn, Louisville, Duke and Pitt.
