Super Bowl XLV Futures Betting Update

NFL Football betting fans sure are getting their money’s worth from the free nfl picks from Capperspicks.com.

As the biggest sport in the betting industry, NFL football never truly rests. That’s why we’re already looking ahead at 2010-11 Super Bowl futures. Who has the inside track?

We’re roughly two thirds through the 2010 NFL regular season and entering the home stretch. Time to revisit Super Bowl XLV betting futures.

Who’s on the rise? Who is taking a major tumble? Who is standing pat?

Worth noting: just because a team doesn’t appear on this list doesn’t mean it isn’t in the hunt. We know the Steelers and Saints are very much contenders. We know that the Chiefs and Bucs are hot sleepers. But let’s focus on the teams making the biggest moves of late.

NFL Betting – Super Bowl Futures Odds Update

RISERS

New England Patriots
Super Bowl XLV odds: +500

Looks like the Pats went from overrated to underrated and may be overrated again. Offensively, this group looks a lot like the early Brady/Belichick teams that won Super Bowls with Brady leading a group of relative no-names. Danny Woodhead? Benjarvus Green-Ellis? Rookie tight ends like Aaron Hernandez? It’s amazing what the Pats have done with this group. Still, they’re 30th in the NFL in total defense. That has to bite them in the butt sooner or later.

Philadelphia Eagles
Super Bowl XLV odds: +600

Weren’t the aging Eagles supposed to reload gradually over the next few years? Instead, the youth infusion is way ahead of schedule. LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson give the Eagles the most explosive offense in football. Nate Allen has been a revelation as a rookie safety. And then there’s that guy named Michael Vick. The Eagles are a force to be reckoned with right now.

Atlanta Falcons
Super Bowl XLV odds: +700

The Falcons aren’t a perfect team, especially on “D,” but everything is coming together for them this season. Matt Ryan and Roddy White have as a strong of a QB/WR connection as any duo in the NFL.A fitter Michael Turner looks refreshed as he batters would-be tacklers in the backfield. Atlanta keeps scoring and forcing turnovers – enough that it has a great shot to secure one or more home playoff games. And the Falcons are simply unbeatable at the Georgia Dome.

FALLERS

New York Giants
Super Bowl XLV odds: +1500

This is a recent development. El Manning’s offensive line is depleted and his top wideout, Hakeem Nicks, is out several weeks with a bizarre leg injury. Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs both won’t stop fumbling. This is starting to look like another Giants meltdown season.

Indianapolis Colts
Super Bowl XLV odds: +1500

Who could’ve imagined the Colts ever appearing on the “Fallers” list? The problem isn’t even Indy’s brutal run defense; the Colts have never stopped the run in the Peyton Manning era. The problem, believe it or not, is the offense. Donald Brown has been quite bad replacing Joseph Addai and all the injuries to Peyton Manning’s receiving corps have left him with a group of guys who struggle to run routes and catch the ball.

Houston Texans
Super Bowl XLV odds: +20000

Talk about a freefall. Just when we thought the Texans would finally have their breakout season, they totally choke. Make it two straight last-second defeats. Their pass defense is beyond awful.

STANDING PAT

New York Jets
Super Bowl XLV odds: +600

Most bettors expected the Jets’ defense and running game to keep them competitive again this year. The key to becoming top contenders was whether or not Mark Sanchez could improve. He has – dramatically. He’s really developing a strong rapport with Santonio Holmes. The Jets are for real.

Baltimore Ravens
Super Bowl XLV odds: +700

My preseason pick to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl is still holding fairly strong. Joe Flacco has taken a large step toward the elite echelon of NFL passers. The Ravens’ pass defense is a bit shady at times but it sure helps having Ed Reed back. The Ravens remain major contenders.

Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLV odds: +1000

My other preseason Super Bowl pick is picking up steam after a brief midseason stumble. The Packer “D” is full of playmakers, especially Clay Matthews, and a big reason why Green Bay has outscored opponents 85-10 over its last three games. Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings are on fire in the passing game, seemingly peaking just in time for the stretch run. Look out.
