Superbowl Betting: Parlay & Teaser Gambling Odds & Predictions

New York Giants vs New England Patriots

The New York Giants and New England Patriots square off on Sunday in a rematch of Super Bowl XLII. Back on the first Sunday of February 2008, the Giants shocked the world when they upended the seemingly-invincible Patriots 17-14 and stumped their attempt at a perfect season.

Odds: Giants +3, Patriots -3
Total: 55

So what’s going to be different this time? Likely, not much.

The Patriots played a very soft schedule this season, facing just two teams with a winning record in the regular season. They lost both games with one of them coming to these very same Giants when they visited. The Giants played that game without Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw, so they should get a boost now that everyone is healthy.

Both of these teams are quite equal but the main difference between the two is the Giants defensive line. They notched 48 sacks in the regular season (third-most in the NFL) and have picked up another nine through three playoff games. They’ve made a Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers look pretty ordinary, so they’ll be quite confident that they can stymie Tom Brady again.

Overall, this betting line should be set at about a PICK. These are two equally matched teams and the game is being played at a neutral site. Instead, the Giants – who have won the last two meetings – are getting three points, which gives us a lean to their favor.

Keep in mind that it’s a small lean. The Giants did win this year and they did win Super Bowl XLII, but in both contests they needed late fourth-quarter drives to get the job done. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Had a bounce not gone in their favor – I.E. the David Tyree catch – and they wouldn’t have won the game. With the points, the Giants are the play on the side.

Super Bowl ATS Side Pick: Giants +3
Over/Under Line: 55

The under appears to have great value in this game as 55 seems like a total that’s way too high. For starters, the last time these teams met in the Super Bowl there were only 30 points scored with the bulk of them coming in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots haven’t allowed more than 27 points in any game this season and they haven’t scored more than 23 against a team with a winning record. That alone should indicate what type of style this game will be.

These are two teams that have plenty of film on each other, so expect this to resemble more of a divisional-type contest than an inter-conference game. These two teams are very familiar with each other and they’ve had two weeks to prepare defensively for what they are going to see.

There’s likely going to be more than 30 points as there was at Super Bowl XLII but 55 is too tall a number to cover. Bet the under.
