Free Prop Bet Picks – Super Bowl 49 Player Projections

Betting on Super Bowl Player Prop?

I went to Fan Duel today and found out I can’t even get into a Super Bowl daily fantasy football league for this Sunday. It is truly hitting home. The end of the fantasy football season is here.

For most of you the Fantasy Football season was over a few weeks ago, but rest assured you can actually watch just one game and enjoy the play on the field – not stew about dropped passes, missed field goals and fumbles by your own personal starting running back.

The fact that you will be sitting there watching the game WITHOUT a laptop tuned into six other games doesn’t mean that projecting the numbers of all the pertinent players isn’t interesting. If this game was played in November, would Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin, Tom Brady, LeGarrette Blount or Julian Edelman be in your starting Fantasy lineup?

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Let’s break down the numbers and see who is start-worthy in terms of Fantasy Ball.

New England Patriots

Tom Brady – 250 yards passing, 2 TDs, 1 Int. – Tom Brady’s team is on fire! He has been paying some spectacular ball in guiding his team to two wins in the playoffs and a combines 80 points (3 TD passes in the AFC Championship). New England averaged 29.3 points per game in the regular season, the fourth-best mark in the NFL – you have to think they are going to have a little bit of success in Seattle.

That said the Seahawks were QB killers all season long –nobody was a recommended start against the Legion of Boom all year. Brady will be OK, not great on Sunday – barely a Fantasy starter!

LeGarrette Blount – 50 yards rushing, 1 TD – Blount rushed for 148 yards with three touchdowns in the AFC Final and has been the best Patriots back by far in the playoffs. But, as always, it is awfully difficult to trust a Patriots Running Back. Remember Jonas Grey? Ya, I barely do too!

Blount’s running style is not a good matchup against Seattle’s defense – period! The Seahawks will likely eat him up as they have done all running backs all season long. Blount may be a fringe starter because of his TD potential but he is on my Fantasy bench this week! And something tells me Blount loses some touches to…

Shane Vereen – 25 rushing yards, 6 catches, 40 yards – Vereen may be the guy to exploit Seattle’s only defensive weakness – the middle of the field. He likely won’t get many rushing yards, but he will be the check-down guy catching the dump-off passes that Brady is going to be forced to throw. Like Blount, Vereen is a fringe starter this week but who knows with Bill Belichick running the show.

Julian Edleman – 7 catches, 70 yards, 1 TD – He is a main weapon to Tom Brady so we know that he will get some balls thrown his way. Edelman will get targets and receptions – it’s just a matter of what he is/is not able to do after he gets his hands on the ball. Against the Seahawks expect OK, not great numbers.

Brandon LaFell – 3 catches, 40 yards – Where has LaFell gone? He will likely draw Richard Sherman this week which means fewer targets and less opportunity to make plays – period!

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Rob Gronkowski – 6 catches, 70 yards, 1 TD – The Colts limited Gronk’s effectiveness by putting a Cornerback on him – I expect the Seahawks to do the same with Byron Maxwell. If it isn’t Maxwell, Earl Thomas will be all over Gronkowski. While I think Gronk wins a couple of battles, I can’t see him winning the war against Seattle’s defense.

D/ST – 300 yards against, 1 Int., 2 sacks – Seattle should have their way with this defense although Andrew Luck didn’t do a thing against them. Expect one interception from Darrelle Revis and a couple of sacks but nothing really special this week.

Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson, 200 yards passing, 2 TDs, 1 Int., 50 rushing yards – Wilson had his worst performance as a pro in the NFC Championship game but as a consummate pro should be able to bounce back here. Wilson is at his best when he is using his arm, his legs and his mind – my guess is that his focus here is on point and that he does some damage through the air and on the ground.

Wilson will likely be the more productive of the QBs in the game, Fantasy-wise – seriously!

Marshawn Lynch – 90 yards rushing, 1 TD, 2 catches, 20 yards – chances are that Lynch gets the ball 20-25 times Sunday and he is a master of making the most of his opportunities. Just ask Green Bay, a team that Lynch rolled for 157 yards and a TD. Simply put, Seattle will stick with the run no matter what and Lynch is the beneficiary.

Lynch has a real chance to be MVP here – if he doesn’t grab his crotch and embarrass the powers that make that decision!

Doug Baldwin – 5 catches, 70 yards, 1 TD – Baldwin could draw Darrell Revis in this game which could limit his numbers. But Baldwin has a knack of rising to the occasion and making critical catches at critical times. He is Wilson’s favorite target and will have the ball thrown to him in critical situations for sure.

Baldwin has a chance to be the most effective Wide Receiver in this game and may be the most trustworthy start at WR in Fantasy circles.

Jermaine Kearse -4 catches, 50 yards – He will either have Revis of Brandon Browner on him. Either way it isn’t a good matchup. Russell Wilson is a master of taking what defenses give him – there is no way that Belichick and his cornerbacks give Kearse a huge play after what they saw in the NFC Championship game!

Luke Wilson – 4 catches, 40 yards – Wilson will be that guy called upon during key third down plays- he has delivered in the past and will be tasked to do so again. With the wide receivers seemingly overmatched, Wilson could become the best option in the passing game. My projections here are conservative – Wilson could become the X-Factor here and have the game of his life!

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

D/ST – 275 yards against, 2 Int., 3 sacks – Brady and Belichick will definitely have something up their sleeves this week – they always do when they have an extra week to prepare. But Seattle is a historically good defense. Their injury woes don’t seem to be much of a concern. Expect the Seattle defense to rise to the occasion again and be the true difference of Super Bowl 49.
