2010 Super Bowl Lines: Colts vs. Saints

Super Bowl Betting –  Colts Experience The Difference

The New Orleans Saints are in the Super Bow for the first time in franchise history while the Indianapolis Colts won a Super Bowl just three years ago. As they say, we have to learn from history.

The story of Super Bowl XLIV will be the two offenses as bot the Saints and Colts are led by not only two of the best quarterbacks of this generation, but two potential Hall of Famers.

Peyton Manning is the league MVP while Brees set an NFL record for completion percentage this year. Clearly, both of these guys are the best the NFL has to offer and it is no coincidence that their teams are in the Super Bowl.

While the offenses will be on display, experience might be the key. Execution is the most important factor in football and since the Colts know what to expect on this stage, expect them to be a little more relaxed after kickoff.

Saints Offense versus Colts Defense

The one big edge that the Saints offense has over the Colts offense I their ability to run the football. For all the praise that Brees gets for his passing, the Saints were actually the sixth-ranked rushing offense in the NFL this year. For the Saints to win, they will have to play defense with their offense. What that means is that they’ll have to run the football and keep Manning and the Colts offense on the sidelines. If they can do that, they’ll have a good chance to win.

Colts Offense versus Saints Defense

Sure, the Saints will try to keep them on the sidelines, but it is nothing they haven’t seen before. They have faced teams like the Miami Dolphins who try to play keep away, they have faced blitzing teams like the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets and they have faced teams like the New England Patriots that try to outscore them. The bottom line is that none of that worked. The Colts have seen it all and that type of experience is what helps teams win a Super Bowl.

Outlook & Pick

This will be a battle of scoring and the Colts have the slightly better units. They are a bit better at quarterback, wide receiver and tight end, and they have a big advantage in place kicking. Along with the difference in experience, the Colts should do enough to get this win.

Pick: Colts -4.5

  1. The Colts are going to win because of Manning being the greatest quarterback of all time… there is no way to stop him. If he wants to win the game, he will. They have had a vast amount of 4th quarter comebacks this year and when the Ravens sat back, Peyton found a way to beat them, when the Jets came blitz heavy, Peyton found a way to beat them…

He is just too good and will continue to be until his retires on top of the game. As a fan of the game, I used to hate Manning because of how good he was, but through-out the years, it’s impossible as a fan of the game not to enjoy watching him play.

Drew Brees on the other hands, is no slouch, in my eyes, he is the best quarterback other than Peyton and this is going to be quite the SuperBowl. TheCoach was predicting a Saints-Colts SuperBowl earlier in the season and I am so glad it’s happened!!

Best of luck to both teams this week,

    Regards,

    TheCoach
