NFL: BETTORS SIDING WITH ROAD FAVORITES

Wild-Card Weekend has four road teams as favorites and Sportsbook.com members are heavily backing every one of them.

In addition to the odds for this weekend’s four playoff games, make sure you check out all our future odds including our recently updated Super Bowl Odds which have the New York Giants favored to win it all again.

We are also offering Primetime Props for the playoffs. The popular promotion was a hit during the regular season and has been extended due to the wishes of our members.

Looking at the games this week, it begins on Saturday afternoon with the Atlanta Falcons (11-5) giving 2 ½-points at the Arizona Cardinals (9-7).

The fact that Atlanta is the favorite isn’t surprising in the least. They have a great running attack with Michael Turner and rookie quarterback Matt Ryan provides enough balance to keep defenses on their toes.

Arizona has a few things going in their favor besides the home crowd. Quarterback Kurt Warner has a ton of playoff experience including a Super Bowl ring, and receiver Anquan Boldin will be in the lineup despite his shoulder injury.

If Warner has a great game, including limiting his turnovers, then the Cardinals can pull the upset here even if only 15% of the early bettors are backing them.

The second game on Saturday features the Indianapolis Colts (12-4) giving one-point at the San Diego Chargers (8-8). The NFL marketing department considers this the best game of the weekend and who can blame them with Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning having an MVP season.

Manning will have to be on his game again and his quarterback rating is well into the 100’s during their nine-game winning streak.

San Diego has a four-game winning streak of their own and quarterback Philip Rivers is having a Pro Bowl season, even if he didn’t get voted in. If the Chargers weren’t struggling with their running game with LaDainian Tomlinson, then they would be getting a lot more than 13% of the support.

Tomlinson looked great on Sunday and it appears his toe injury is behind him and that could be bad news for a Colts’ defense that has struggled against him in the past.

The early game on Sunday has the Baltimore Ravens (12-4) giving three-points at the Miami Dolphins (11-5). Like Atlanta, Baltimore has their own rookie quarterback in Joe Flacco, but you would never know it by the way he played in their final two games against Dallas and Jacksonville.

The Ravens like to rely on the running game but the Dolphins are a very respectable 10th in run defense at 101.3 yards allowed.

Miami plays smart, solid football on both sides of the ball, a huge reason they had a historic turnaround after winning one game last year. Their main architect of success has been quarterback Chad Pennington, who doesn’t turn the ball over and had a 112.6 quarterback rating in December. Despite that, only 11% of bettors are backing the Fish.

The final game of the weekend is the Philadelphia Eagles (9-6-1) giving three-points at the Minnesota Vikings (10-6). The Eagles got extremely lucky when Tampa Bay and Chicago lost last week but they took advantage of the opportunity by beating up on Dallas and bringing more tears to the eyes of Terrell Owens.

The Eagles have been far too inconsistent this season, all you have to do is look back to their loss at Washington two weeks ago. You can be sure that coach Andy Reid will be showing tape of that game to his squad to avoid any letdowns this week.

Minnesota ended up beating a New York Giants team last week that removed many starters in the second half. Chicago ended up losing which meant Minnesota would have made the playoffs anyhow, but you never want to ‘back in’.

Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson will get his first playoff start, and he’s the biggest risk of any signal caller this weekend. That’s a giant reason a paltry 6% are backing the Vikings, the lowest of any team.

Note these are just some of the many Wildcard Weekend early odds you can find at Sportsbook.com.
