Betting On The Nascar Daytona 500? We think You Should!

NASCAR always serves its best wine first. Frank Doyle makes his pick for the Daytona 500, the Great American Race.

NASCAR is unique in sports in having its most important event at the very start of its season.

Although the points won at the Daytona 500 are the same as for every other Sprint Cup race, the money and prestige associated with the Great American Race are bigger and better than any other race on the circuit.

NASCAR has always been popular with Sports Interaction bettors because there’s so much to be on – like golf, Sports Interaction has bets on group betting, individual matchups and other side bets at NASCAR races as well as the outright.

This year’s race is going to be especially good because NASCAR are one of the great sports at spotting things that are wrong in their administration and then fixing it – if NASCAR ran college football, there would be a playoff by now.

NASCAR realised their points system wasn’t entirely just and so have revised it, in order to reward winning more. That’s unlikely to impact at Daytona though – winning has always been important at Daytona. Nascar Betting

Kevin Harvick, the winner in 2007, is the ante-post favorite. He’s one of two sentimental picks in the race, which is commemorating the tenth anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s death at the Daytona 500 in 2001 – Harvick was the man who took over from Earnhardt in the Richard Childress Racing team immediately after Earnhardt’s death. The other sentimental favorite is Dale Earnhardt, Jr, of course, now racing for Hendrick Motorsports.

Earnhardt, Jr, is the most popular driver in NASCAR but he isn’t consistent over the season. That said, when it comes to the once-off races, Daytona is where it’s most likely to happen.

Jimmie Johnson has won five straight Sprint Cup titles and he’s the best driver on the circuit, but his Daytona record is poor. Johnson won in 2006, but has been 39th, 27th, 31st and 35th since. In other words: nowhere. It could change this year, but at a short price there’s value elsewhere.

The value is in a man that never won the Great American Race before, in fact. Tony Stewart has won two Sprint Cups and three races at the Daytona track, in 2009, 2006 and 2005, but never the Daytona 500 itself.

Stewart nearing the end of his career now, so it’s now or never for the final notch in his belt before driving off into the sunset.
