The Rose Bowl, as much a New Year’s Day tradition as a wicked hangover, kicks off two BCS Bowl games on the first day of 2010.

The oldest of all College Football games features the Pac-10 champion Oregon Ducks, ranked 7th, facing the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes, who won the Big 10 title (5 pm ET, ABC).

Oregon is a 4-point favorite and the over/under total is 50.5 in NCAAF Lines at betED.com.

The teams had identical straight-up records (10-2 SU) but the Buckeyes were better against the spread at 9-3 ATS compared to the Ducks’ 7-5 ATS.

Ohio State beat the Michigan Wolverines 21-10 on Nov. 21, covering as 10-point road favorites. The score went under the over/under total of 48.

And the Ducks beat conference and state rival Oregon State Beavers 37-33 in the grudge match known as the Civil War, on Dec. 3. The Ducks did not cover the point spread as 9.5-point home favorites but the scored eclipsed the total of 63.

Next up New Year’s Day is the Sugar Bowl, which pits the No. 5 Florida Gators (12-1 SU) against the unbeaten No. 3 Cincinnati Bearcats (12-0 SU) at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans (8:30 pm ET, FOX)

The Gators are 12.5-point favorites and the over/under is 57 in College Football Betting Odds.

In the Big East Championship game, Tony Pike’s touchdown pass to Armon Binns with less than a minute remaining capped a 21-point comeback as Cincinnati beat the Pittsburgh Panthers 45-44.

The Bearcats covered the 1.5-point spread and the score went way over the total of 56.

Then-No. 1 Florida was upset by now-No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, losing 32-13 as a 5.5-point favorite. The score went over the 41-point total.
