Something huge has rocked the sports world. Bigger than the baseball playoffs, which start today. Bigger than the Marshawn Lynch trade. Bigger than Dwyane Wade’s injury. Yep – the Randy Moss trade is the biggest sports news since The Decision.

NFL news: Patriots trade Randy Moss to Vikings; Seahawks acquire Marshawn Lynch; Jarrett released

Randy Moss Is Traded Back To The Vikings

Randy Moss is a Minnesota Viking again. In a shocker, the New England Patriots have traded their superstar wideout and future Hall-of-Famer for a third-round pick in 2011. Moss was clearly disgruntled in New England. He called the Pats’ lack of a contract extension offer a “slap in the face” and was held catchless for the first time in his New England career this past Monday night.

Minnesota should once again be a nice fit for him as Brett Favre loves to chuck the ball up for grabs and Randy still has that trademark leaping ability.

The Seattle Seahawks made a move of their own yesterday, acquiring former first-round pick Marshawn Lynch from the Buffalo Bills for a 2011 fourth-round pick and a conditional 2012 pick. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll wasn’t totally committal about Lynch’s role in their backfield but he called Lynch a back who can “carry the load.” It looks like Lynch has a real shot to start in Seattle. Meanwhile, Fred Jackson and rookie C.J. Spiller will see increased touches in Buffalo.

To close the book on the Dwayne Jarrett DWI case: the Carolina Panthers released the troublemaking wideout yesterday.

NBA news: Dwyane Wade injured in Miami’s preseason opener

The Miami Heat opened their preseason last night with a 105-89 victory. But the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were only together for three minutes. Wade limped off the court at the 3:17 mark with a right hamstring strain and did not return.

Reportedly, the injury isn’t serious. Wade will be re-evaluated in a week, as the Heat won’t rush him back with the regular season still several weeks away.

NHL news: Canucks, Predators swap defensemen

A minor trade went down in the NHL yesterday. The Vancouver Canucks sent rugged defender Shane O’Brien and forward Dan Gendur to the Nashville Predators for defenseman Ryan Parent and forward Jonas Andersson. Parent is a former first-round pick but has just seven points in 102 career games.

NCAA basketball news: Baylor guard LaceDarius Dunn arrested and suspended

LaceDarius Dunn, a star senior guard for Baylor, is in big trouble. He was arrested on felony assault charges Tuesday, accused of causing his girlfriend “serious bodily harm” last week. He punched her in the face, fracturing her jaw in two places.

Dunn actually turned himself in. If convicted, he could be jailed for up to 20 years. However, his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, didn’t want to pursue any charges.
