1. St. Louis Blues (Two Weeks Ago: 5)

Hard to argue that the Blues aren’t the best team in the league right now. They have outscored their opponents 19-7 so far, their power play is at 37 1/2 percent, they have already beaten the Blackhawks and they have been getting stellar goaltending from Jarolslav Halak. The Blues are going to be a handful for any team this year and sit at #1 this week.

2. San Jose Sharks (Two Weeks Ago: 8)

The Sharks are 1b in the Rankings this week – undefeated and heading for a Tuesday showdown with St. Louis. They are big, strong and absolutely dominant this year outshooting their opponents by an average of 20 shots per game! They have yet to play a top tier team but will get their crack Tuesday.

3. Colorado Avalanche (Two Weeks Ago: 25)

Young, talented and playing with an edge that only Patrick Roy can bring to a team has the Avs unbeaten and Top 3 in the Rankings. They have just four goals against so far this year – the goalies acre clipping along with a .977 save percentage.

Unbelievable!

4. Pittsburgh Penguins (Two Weeks Ago: 2)

Could be higher but all five of their games so far have come against non-playoff teams from last year. Sid the Kid is finding his groove and Marc-Andre Fleury has looked very good. There is no doubting the talent on this team – expect them to climb the Rankings VERY soon.

5. Toronto Maple Leafs (Two Weeks Ago: 14)

Are 5-1 on the season with everyone contributing – three of their centers have at least four points so far this year. The Leafs are scoring goals and have a formidable duo between the pipes. Newcomers Dave Bolland and Jonathan Bernier have been terrific and David Clarkson’s Leaf debut is just around the corner.

6. Chicago Blackhawks (Two Weeks Ago: 1)

The Hawks have been just OK this year – don’t expect the mediocrity to last! They have two games against teams ahead of them in the Rankings this week – St. Louis on Thursday and Toronto on Saturday. It’s Rankings sink or swim time for the defending champs.

7. Boston Bruins (Two Weeks Ago: 3)

The defending Eastern Conference champs have one loss on the year and that came against the upstart Avalanche in a game they dominated. Tuukka Rask has been lights out – a .965 save percentage so far – the offense will catch up soon.

8. Anaheim Ducks (Two Weeks Ago: 13)

Are 4-1 so far this year – they haven’t lost since opening night and their last two wins have come by a combined 10-1 score. They registered 56 shots Sunday and look plain scary in the offensive zone. [ad-4437448]

9. LA Kings (Two Weeks Ago: 4)

The Kings have been just OK so far – three of their four wins have come in extra time this year and their two losses have come against Winnipeg and the Rangers. Is it time to bump them from the Top 10 – not quite yet!

10. Phoenix Coyotes (Two Weeks Ago: 26)

This team just keeps clipping along – competitive as always. They are 4-2 on the season and land in the top 10 – somehow!

11. Detroit Red Wings (Two Weeks Ago: 9)

The Red Wings are 3-2 this year – not terrific but not bad either. Expect the Wings to continue to be a slightly above average team this year.

12. Montreal Canadiens (Two Weeks Ago: 11)

The Habs convincingly beat the Canucks on the road Saturday and looked terrific in every aspect of the game. Carey Price looks back to form – the Canadiens will only be as good as Price is this year.

13. Calgary Flames (Two Weeks Ago: 30)
14. Vancouver Canucks (Two Weeks Ago: 7)
15. New York Islanders (Two Weeks Ago: 16)
16. Tampa Bay Lightning (Two Weeks Ago: 21)
17. Minnesota Wild (Two Weeks Ago: 17)
18. Winnipeg Jets (Two Weeks Ago: 22)
19. Dallas Stars (Two Weeks Ago: 18)
20. Columbus Blue Jackets (Two Weeks Ago: 19)
21. Carolina Hurricanes (Two Weeks Ago: 24)
22. Ottawa Senators (Two Weeks Ago: 10)
23. Nashville Predators (Two Weeks Ago: 23)
24. Washington Capitals (Two Weeks Ago: 12)
25. Florida Panthers (Two Weeks Ago: 29)
26. Edmonton Oilers (Two Weeks Ago: 20)
27. New Jersey Devils (Two Weeks Ago: 27)
28. New York Rangers (Two Weeks Ago: 6)
29. Philadelphia Flyers (Two Weeks Ago: 15)
30. Buffalo Sabres (Two Weeks Ago: 28)
