Another vicious Sunday in the NFL left a warpath of injuries. What other big news stories emerged over the weekend in sports?

NFL news: Packers ravaged by injuries; Mark Clayton out for season; Favre, Brady and Moss rumors fly

Brett Favre Jenn Sterger Saga

The Green Bay Packers were picked by many betting experts to be 2010’s big winners but, at least for this week, they’re the NFL’s big losers.

Where do we start? They’d already lost Ryan Grant, Nick Barnett and Morgan Burnett to vicious injuries before they even travelled to Washington for yesterday’s heartbreaking overtime loss. Then came Jermichael Finley’s injury on the second play of the game; the tight end, who was on pace to set the NFL’s single-season yardage record at his position, suffered what is believed to be a displaced hamstring ligament. Then Clay Matthews pulled a hamstring of his own, leaving the Pack without their star linebacker.

Worst of all, Aaron Rodgers took a big hit in overtime and wound up concussed. There’s no way of knowing how long he’ll be out.

Super rookie Sam Bradford took his lumps the St. Louis Rams’ blowout loss to Detroit yesterday and lost his top target in the process. Mark Clayton suffered a torn patellar tendon in his knee and will miss the rest of the 2010 season.

It seems too fitting that Brett Favre and the Vikings will visit the Jets this week. After all, Favre finds himself in the middle of a scandal tracing back to his one season with Gang Green. Favre is under review by the NFL for allegedly sexually harassing Jenn Sterger (now with the Versus network) while he was a New York Jets employee. Deadspin.com acquired material suggesting that Favre sent voicemails asking to meet up with Sterger and sent graphic photos of his, ahem, private parts. There is still no confirmation yet that the man who sent the voicemails and photos is definitely Favre.

Is it possible that Tom Brady and Randy Moss’ marriage ended because of some silly insults? Apparently, Brady made fun of Moss’ beard and Moss fired back by telling Brady, “You need to get your hair cut. You look like a girl.” They reportedly had to be separated in the Pats’ locker room. I have to say – I side with Moss on this one. Brady really does look like a girl.

MLB news: Brooks Conrad makes dubious history with three errors in one game

Eek. Journeyman Brooks Conrad was happy to be a part of Atlanta’s playoff roster at age 30 but now he’s in danger of only ever being remembered for the long list of blunders he made yesterday.

In Atlanta’s Game-3 loss to San Francisco, Conrad tied an MLB postseason record with three errors. One of them came in the ninth inning on a grounder that shot through his legs, Bill Buckner style. It did, in fact, decide the game. In his defense, however, he was playing second base for injured Martin Prado. Conrad had only played that position 11 times in his big-league career.

NHL news: Thrashers goalie Pavelec released from hospital, recovering

The NHL got a major scare on Friday night when Atlanta Thrashers goaltender Ondrej Pavelec inexplicably collapsed during a game against the Washington Capitals. He lay motionless for several minutes before being removed on a stretcher and taken to hospital for observation.

The good news: Pavelec seems to be “OK.” He sustained a concussion from hitting his head on the ice when he fell but, aside from that, is alert and out of the hospital. The bad news: doctors still haven’t determined why he collapsed in the first place. They’ll continue to run tests.

Favre, Favre, Favre… so disappointed. what did you expect, the woman is a professional whore. she will try and get money by any means necessary. you should have seen this one coming a mile away. didnt you learn anything from bill clinton. never leave them with something they can trace back to you even if at the time you think the “feelings are mutual”

got ten bucks that says she will settle out of court for some “undisclosed” amount, lol. whores, can’t live with them, can’t sexually harass them.
