We switch gears to start today’s news with a bit of boxing talk before the big Pacquiao/Margarito fight this weekend.

Boxing news: Antonio Margarito apologizes for mocking Freddie Roach

Pacquiao vs Margarito Gossip

Antonio Margarito’s fight with Manny Pacquiao got a bit of extra hype this week when Margarito got in hot water for mocking Pacquiao’s legendary trainer Freddie Roach.

Margarito was caught on video shaking his hands in reaction to Roach’s prediction that Pacquiao would knock him out. Roach has Parkinson’s and Margarito appeared to be mocking his symptoms. Margarito insisted that he was pretending to be scared, not trying to mock Parkinson’s, and that someone in his family has Parkinson’s.

Margarito formally apologized to Roach at the undercard news conference on Thursday.

NBA news: Chris Bosh on the block? Yao out with ankle sprain

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Could the Big Three in Miami break up not even a quarter into their first season? Nothing too solid has emerged but there are, believe it or not, trade rumors popping up suggesting that the Heat aren’t happy with Chris Bosh’s inside presence and may try to trade him. Wow.

Yao Ming is banged up yet again. He’ll miss at least a week with a left ankle sprain after hurting himself in Houston’s loss to Washington on Wednesday night.

NFL news: Aaron Kampmann out for season; Giants lose Steve Smith for Week 11; D.J. Williams charged with Dui

The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up Aaron Kampmann this past offseason to boost their pass rush. He had four sacks in eight games so far this year – not bad for a team that had 14 sacks all last season. But Kampmann’s year is done. After tearing his left ACL last November, he tore his right ACL in practice this week.

The Giants won’t have elite possession receiver Steve Smith for this Sunday’s tilt with Dallas. He has a partially torn pectoral muscle, suffered during drills this week, and will miss one or more games with the injury.

The Denver Broncos could lose their leading tackler and defensive co-captain to the law. Linebacker D.J. Williams was charged with a DUI early this morning. It’s his second one; he was arrested for a DUI in 2005 as well. He faces a possible suspension from the league. He’s been ordered to appear in court December 13.

MLB news: Beltran to waive no-trade? Red Sox want Beltre, V-Mart back; Uggla, Marlins break off talks

The MLB rumor mill is starting to swirl now. First off, there’s Carlos Beltran, whose health troubles the last few seasons have made him a forgotten man with the New York Mets.  He said he’d be willing to listen and consider waiving his no-trade clause if the Mets approach him about a deal. However, he also said he wants to finish his career with the Mets.

Maybe Adrian Beltre and Victor Martinez won’t leave Boston after all? While we don’t know if the two sluggers agree, Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein said today that he definitely wants both free agents back on his team next season.

Are Dan Uggla’s days with the Florida Marlins numbered? The Marlins have broken off contract talks, according to Uggla. He insists that he wants to stay in Florida but wants a long-term deal. The second baseman set career highs with a .287 average, 33 homers and 105 RBI in 2010.
