NFL news: Two Bengal players arrested

The Cincinnati Bengals continued to be true Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend, as two of their players got arrested in separate incidents.

Technically, Cedric Benson is a free agent, but he finished last season as the Bengals’ starting running back. He was arrested early Sunday for allegedly assaulting a family member.

Few details about the incident have been released.

Bengals safety Marvin White was also arrested Sunday for simple assault and disturbing the peace.

Reportedly, White went to a child care center in his native Louisiana to pay a bill for his child and “began to be verbally abusive to the management when the manager assumed he was the boyfriend of the child’s mother,” St. Landry Parish Sherriff Bobby Guidroz said.

“They asked him to leave.

He then made threats in front of the children and other adults there toward the management and made comments to his son’s grandmother, who was there to pick up the child.”

White was booked into jail and released on $1,250.

Arian Foster played through knee injury

Despite his MVP-caliber 2010 season, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster said in a recent Sporting News feature that he played all of last year with a torn meniscus in his knee. He still managed to lead the NFL with 1,616 yards with 16 touchdowns plus 65 catches for 604 yards and two scores.

Foster said he hid the injury from team officials to protect his starting job. He added that the injury has been repaired and that he’ll be fully healthy for the start of 2011. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Hall-of-Fame Game to be cancelled

Even though the NFL lockout appears set to end this week, the league and players association have gone long enough without a deal for the 2011 season to have its first casualty. The annual NFL Hall-of-Fame Game in Canton, Ohio will be cancelled.

It would’ve been the preseason opener between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams. Though multiple sources have reported this news, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello insists that the game hasn’t been cancelled.
