NFL news: Owners, players may split revenue in new CBA

Optimism continues to grow about the NFL lockout’s chances of ending. Rumor has it the two sides are discussing a collective bargaining agreement that would see the owners and players split the league’s revenue.

The players’ share would be close to what it was the past 10 years but the league would no longer skim $1 billion off the top to expense credits.

The new deal would also allow all players with at least four years of service to become unrestricted free agents and would implement a 16-week schedule of Thursday games.

MoJo unhappy with Jags drafting Gabbert

No word yet on whether or not the NFL Network would respond by hiring new, non-crappy broadcasters. Fingers crossed.

MoJo unhappy with Jags drafting Gabbert

Many Jacksonville Jaguars fans were happy to see the team draft quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the first round this offseason – but star running back Maurice Jones-Drew wasn’t.

He explained that, while he doesn’t necessarily dislike Gabbert, he felt the team should’ve shown more confidence in starting pivot David Garrard.

“I just feel like what we needed as an offense wasn’t a new quarterback,” Jones-Drew said. “We just needed another year amongst each other because we had a lot of new players come in.

You see a team like the Patriots or the Steelers or the Colts, those guys [have] been in the same system for 10, 12 years together and so that’s what we’re trying to grow right now.”
