NFL Headlines: Brett Favre…Is He Done?

Brett Favre’s return for another season is highly unlikely. He has one year left on the 2 year contract he signed with Minnesota , and coach Brad Childress isn’t going to rush him into making a decision on returning for a 20th NFL season…

Favre Speculating on Retirment…Again

After Favre ended a late Vikings’ drive with an interception in the last seconds of regulation, the Saints marched down the field on their first drive and Garrett Hartley nailed a 40 yard field goal to sinch the victory for the Big Easy.

Favre, who is no stranger to retirement talks, has announced that his return for another NFL season is “highly unlikely”. He still has another year remaining in his contract with Minnesota, but after witnessing the beating Favre took at the hands of the Saints’ defensive line on Sunday it was abundantly clear how hard it must be for an already 40-year old man to make any kind of Super Bowl run.

At one point in the third quarter, Favre thought, and appeared, to have broken his ankle. But after writhing in pain on the trainer’s table and having the ankle wrapped, Favre returned and reminded everyone of how inhumanly tough he is.

And that toughness, along with a very impressive first season in Minnesota, are what may lead to some thoughts of, however unlikely, playing another season. The temptation, after coming so close to another Super Bowl appearance, to get back to the big show must be just as strong now as ever, even if it is with a depleted body.

Either way, Favre claims he won’t take long to make his decision this time. Let’s only hope reporters aren’t needed to camp outside of his home this August.

He probably could play another year and still be better than anyone else the Vikings could find, but you have to believe that enough is enough and he will finally hang um up for good.

Brett should come back for one more year. He is a warrior – the dirty tactics from the Saints was the worse football I have ever seen. If’s thats the way football is played IT’S WRONG! The saints killed him. Was that the way they won, to hit and hit and hit and was so excited when he was down. Brett after limping to his coach and then getting up and going right back was amazing. I really hope the Colts drive the Saints into the ground. Brett should come back he’s talented and can win. When he had to ball and didn’t run MAYBE HE COULDN”T RUN OR EVEN SEE. Bring back the warrior Brett Favre for one more year, it won’t be the same without him.
