Gilbert Arenas suspended indefinitely by league
Gilbert Arenas and fellow Wizard Jarvis Crittenton have both officially been suspended by the NBA for the rest of the season.

While this comes as no surprise, it does pose all kinds of problems for the Wizards. Not to mention their former star guard.
If Arenas ends up facing jail time, then it would be likely that the Wizards could void his $111 million contract. Considering he did plead guilty two weeks ago, it should be possible for Washington to get out of the deal.
Considering that the Wizards weren’t going to win anything anytime soon with, or without Arenas, it has considered a sort of weird blessing that this whole fiasco has occurred. Certainly some fans in the nation’s capital will be grateful that Arena’s huge contract can be done away with. The franchise’s management may have a convenient loophole to get out of their bad business decision of signing Arenas to such a lucrative, long-term contract.
On top of that, the strange, delayed reaction by Commissioner Stern after the incident appeared to many to be more of a reaction to public outcry and the infamous shot of Arenas surrounded by his teammates making light of the episode.
No matter how the rest of this plays out – whether Arenas faces jail time or ends up back in the league next year – this has still been a huge embarrassment for the league.
With the sloppy Seattle situation, the Tim Donaghy book, and all the other embarrassments the league’s already faced recently, it might just need the Lebron-Kobe epic finals to redeem itself.
