NBA news: Dirk Nowitzki named Finals MVP
The dust has settled from the NBA Finals, which ended with a six-game victory for the Dallas Mavericks. Not surprisingly, Dirk Nowitzki took Finals MVP honors.
He averaged 26 points and 9.6 rebounds in the series and overcame a torn tendon in his middle finger suffered in Game 1 and a 101-degree fever in Game 4.
Ellis, Lee can’t coexist
It’s almost a done deal that Monta Ellis will be traded out of Golden State this offseason. Reportedly, he and David Lee can’t be on the same team anymore. Rumor has it he told the Warriors coaching staff that he “wanted no part of being around Lee, except on the court.”
Ellis has been linked to one-for-one swaps with Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala, Chicago’s Luol Deng, Denver’s Nene and Memphis’ Rudy Gay.
Sessions wants out if Cavs take Irving
Not surprisingly, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ramon Sessions has indicated that he wants a trade if the Cavs draft Kyrie Irving out of Duke first overall.
Picking Irving would leave him, Sessions and Baron Davis fighting for playing time and Sessions wants no part of that situation.
Vogel gets Pacers job full-time
Frank Vogel is set to transition from interim head coach to full-time duty with the Indiana Pacers.
He took over for the final 38 games of the 2010-11 season, leading Indiana to a 20-18 mark and helping them make the playoffs for the first time in five years. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
